A People Officer is required on a permanent basis for a large organisation based in Essex £27/29.5k

Your new company
As People Officer you will be the first point of contact for employee relations matters for this large, multi site organisation in Essex. You will support the People Business Partners with projects and provide advice and support on day to day people related activity to all Business areas that incorporates around 600 employees.

Your new role

Employee Relations

 

  • Manage all aspects of absence activity for the Group inclusive of relevant reporting, long term support, case management, home visits, Occupational Health referrals and triggers under the Managing Absence policy including analysing data to proactively address absence
  • Key contact for external providers relating to absence management including Health & Safety in regards to return to work and workplace assessments and Occupational Health
  • Act as case owner on all ER cases (other than those that are deemed high risk) producing associated paperwork, updating case tracker
  • Work closely with managers providing them with expert guidance, coaching and support on ER activity in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach
  • Undertake and support investigations as part of the disciplinary or grievance procedure as note taker and advisor
  • With the help of the People Business Partners, coordinate tribunal activity, compile necessary files and support when required


HR Generalist Support

  • Assist People Business Partners on people related projects to support the overall people strategy
  • Act as systems administrator on the HRM ensuring systems updates are completed regularly
  • Coordinate new starter and leavers processes (utilising our online on-boarding experience) ensuring payroll team are advised accordingly
  • Tracking and administration of all maternity and paternity, ensuring payroll are advised accordingly
  • Coordinating the reporting of Key Performance Indicators including necessary reporting via i-Trent or relevant system
  • Act as a mentor to People Apprentice
  • Generate requested reports as and when required, analysing data and providing commentary for People Business Partners
  • Involvement in yearly BUPA renewals
  • Support when required with interviewing and recruiting new recruits
  • Assist with the coordination of the annual salary and bonus review process, producing accurate letters and liaising with payroll
  • To assist in the development of HR policies and procedures in line with relevant employment legislation and best practice
  • Assist with induction programs for new recruits
  • Completing audit activity as and when required
  • Actively identifying new, more efficient ways of working
  • Support the wider People team on projects, initiatives and general queries as required

 

What you'll need to succeed

 

  • Understanding of the major HR disciplines, experience in supporting the delivery of core HR processes
  • Experience of supporting line managers with absence management, through to appropriate resolution
  • Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proactive / Flexible
  • Self motivated, performance driven with initiative to assess complex situations and make decisions quickly and effectively and deliver excellent customer service.
