Payroll & Finance Officer

The Role:

You will be responsible for supporting the weekly temporary contractor payroll of the company as well as the monthly accounting process. You will be working in a dynamic finance team, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager. This position offers the opportunity to be part of an established business with the opportunity to bring a fresh outlook to processes and procedures. You will be a passionate finance professional who is hands on and wants to develop a first-class finance function.

About You:

You will work as a key member of the finance team. Support services work closely with the wider Sales business, so an ability to bring finance to life in an easy-to-understand way is desirable. You will be dealing with candidates' payroll related queries, so the ability to understand and explain payroll & finance calculations is useful. The month-end process and checklist are detailed and thorough, so the ability to work to tight deadlines and produce accurate financial information is key.

Key Payroll responsibilities include:

  • Process temporary timesheets from portal and RPR websites
  • Upload permanent placements to timesheet portal
  • Process temporary workers pay in payroll software
  • Respond to queries from temporary workers
  • Pensions understanding and processing (auto enrolment, salary sacrifice etc)
  • Support the processing of commissions
  • Process staff expenses
  • EPS/FPS/RTI submissions

Key Finance responsibilities include:

  • Weekly reporting of revenue figures
  • Maintaining the integrity of key Company revenue reports
  • Journal postings
  • Assist the Finance Team with monthly accounting
  • Client/Accounts Payable invoicing
  • Maintain bank reconciliation
  • Asist in preparation of quarterly VAT return
  • Prepare quarterly intermediaries report (ITEPA)
  • Liaising with external auditors on annual audits
  • Ad-hoc support as it arises

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Preferably 1+ years in recruitment
  • Ability to identify anomalies and errors, then rectify them
  • Excel experience
  • Timesheet software experience
  • Systems proficient, with ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Desire to improve systems and processes
  • Customer focused approach, comfortable dealing with queries face to face, over the phone and in written correspondence
  • Someone who is high energy, hands of and detail orientated
  • Well organised and prompt at dealing with queries
