Based in our London office when restrictions lift with homeworking available (subject to meeting homeworking assessment requirements)

The CSP is the trade union and educational, professional organisation for the UK’s 59,000 chartered physiotherapists, support workers and students; and one of the largest representative bodies in healthcare.

We currently have a great opportunity for an exceptional HR professional with a proven track record of success in leading and developing a customer-focused generalist HR Service, to take the lead on HR and OD plans and initiatives which truly embed our values and support our strategic aims. This will involve managing and building the capabililty of our HR and OD team, alongside streamlining and modernising all HR systems and processes.

This is an exciting time for the CSP as we continue to evolve, with the Head of HR and OD being a key player in this cultural change to ensure we are an increasingly influential organisation that is flexible, sustainable and innovative. Working as part of our Leadership Group, you will need to be comfortable and confident advising at this level, as well as having the energy to drive change forward. You will already be a Chartered Member or Fellow of the CIPD, or have equivalent experience, combined with a significant track record of designing and leading culture based change programmes.

We see our equity, diversity and belonging strategy as the most important piece of work to transform the organisation and profession in line with our ambitions. You would be responsible for a wide range of activity against this strategy, including the implementation of new initiatives and reporting on progress. Therefore, to be successful, it is essential that you have a solid understanding of, and commitment to, equity, diversity and belonging and the knowledge and skills to incorporate this into every aspect of HR and OD work.

Since 2018 we have been working with Best Companies to improve staff engagement and have seen year on year improvements. To continue this you would be looking at new ways to engage staff, with particular attention to bringing every individual closer to our vision and mission, supporting managers in developing their own engagement skills and creating an environment in which all are able to fulfill their potential. We are proud to have been awarded the 2021 Best Companies One to Watch accreditation.

This is a real opportunity to have an impact on the organisation, which will require the ability to build strong working relationships of mutual respect internally, as well as with external stakeholders. A strategic thinker and natural leader, you’ll have the ability to empower and develop staff at all levels and deliver results through first-class people management and development.

If you understand organisational culture and its value in bringing about change, and have the expertise and commitment to make it happen, then we would like to hear from you.

Our Values

At the CSP our goal is to create a culture which is characterised by innovation, respect, encouragement, passion and teamwork.  We all strive for continuous improvement and to be the best at everything we do.  We aspire to work in a way that embodies our values of learning, courage, inclusive and integrity.  Our shared values are part of our organisational DNA and reflect the expectations we have of ourselves and others. They guide what we do and how we do it to have the greatest impact for our members.  Please click here for further information.
