Interim Equality Diversity and Inclusion Specialist


Your new company

Working for an established yet growing large public sector service, this immediate interim opportunity for a ED&I specialist has arisen on a fixed term or contract basis. This developing service are seeking a equality specialist to join to support them with a variety of specific ED&I projects. This role is a remote based opportunity working within a large organisation.

Your new role

The ED&I Lead plays a key leadership role in our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion improvement journey. Responsible for policy, strategy development and performance review, the post-holder will develop and facilitate delivery of our ED&I strategy and objectives.

The ED&I objectives will be an important part of the People and Culture Strategy, informed by the lived experience of our staff and service users and fully supported by our Board of Directors. The role will therefore support our wider culture change agenda, helping embed our new values and behaviours and support improvements in engagement. The post-holder will ensure the provision of quality data and support Trust leaders to meet governance and compliance requirements, making evidence based recommendations to improve performance in the areas of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The post holder will benchmark our progress and develop action plans in conjunction with key stakeholders based on evidence, best practice and lived experience. This role will directly line manage the ED&I Advisor/ Administrator and the Race Project Equality Manager and also take responsibility for supporting the development of staff networks to inform and aid delivery of our ED&I objectives. You will review the existing Equality and Diversity Champions network to ensure it remains effective and support the Listening Into Action ED&I Group.

What you'll need to succeed

Thorough knowledge and understanding of equality legislation and guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of the impact of discrimination on people's lives. Knowledge of the diversity of Lancashire communities; their health and well-being needs and the challenges associated with delivering health care in this context.
Knowledge of the Equality Act 2012
Awareness of what is meant by compassionate and inclusive leadership and/or other leadership theories.
