For any HR Managers who have previously set up an HR function from scratch, this is a great opportunity to further hone your skills. You remit will be the inception and development of the HR function for an SME life sciences business in Oxford.
Duties will include ER, recruitment, HRIS introduction, benefits benchmarking/administration, onboarding/induction program, and more. It is essential that you have previously built an HR function from ground-up.

Our client is a life sciences and healthcare service company in Oxford who are looking to significantly grow in the coming 12-18 months.

Description

For any HR Managers who have previously set up an HR function from scratch, this is a great opportunity to hone your skills even further. You remit will be the inception and development of the HR function for an SME life sciences business in Oxford. Duties will include ER, talent acquisition, introduction of an HRIS, benefits benchmarking and administration, onboarding and induction program, and much more.

A non-exhaustive list of your areas of responsibility include:

  • Employee Relations - Customer focused and highly responsive to all employee relations matters, by providing counsel and advice to those involved and responding to all internal requests within 24 hours of being contacted. Reports all employee relations issues to the Global Head of HR and elevates sensitive and highly confidential matters. Handling sensitive casework such as maternity leave, sickness absence, and contract changes/extensions in a legally compliant, confidential, and compassionate manner. Coordinates All Hands Meeting, grievance procedures, implement disciplinary procedures and actively participates on the Social Committee.
  • Talent Acquisition - Manages the recruiting efforts, working with line managers to source and identify candidates as well as conducts phone screening arranges interview schedules, conducts reference checks, and prepares offer letters. Works with Finance Dept to manage and administer contracts and files on all approved positions including approval forms and job descriptions. Prepares weekly Position Activity Report and updates the Headcount Report; posts all open positions on Company website and externally, as directed.
  • Benefits administration and benchmarking - Manages and administers all benefit programs including: -medical insurance and automatic enrolment to the pension scheme.
  • Employee Records/Files - maintains all employee files and updates files on a timely basis. Verifies all employment through certification of passports, other photo identification. Manages and maintains the Qualtrax and NAS folders. Prepares and maintains organisation charts in a timely manner.
  • Onboarding/ Off boarding Program - facilitates and conducts new hire orientation programs, organises with line managers the employees' induction, probation, appraisals, and leavers exit interviews, communicates key programs, policies and procedures, and obtains all new hire documentation on a timely basis.
  • HRIS - you will advise on the choice of the company's first ever HRIS and will then lead on the implementation and roll-out of the preferred HRIS.

This role will initially be 5 days per week in the office from September, so applicants must be happy with a role that encourages a strong office presence as you look to introduce HR to the business for the first time, and look to build strong and credible relationships across the client group.

Profile

To apply for this role of Standalone HR Manager, your profile will closely match the following:

  • Demonstrable current/previous experience of setting up a successful HR function from scratch.
  • Experience working as a standalone HR Manager developing the company's entire HR infrastructure and processes, including HRIS.
  • Broad HR Generalist experience across the full employee life-cycle.
  • Strong recruitment/Talent Acquisition experience, preferably within either Life Sciences or a Technical discipline.
  • Experience of delivering Manager training.
  • CIPD qualification
  • Exemplary communication skills, able to effectively interact, advise and influence members of the senior leadership team.
  • Exceptional customer service record establishes credibility and develops positive working relationships at all levels of the organisation; follows up on issues to closure.
  • Trustworthy, maintains absolute confidentiality and manages confidential information.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of employment laws and compliance issues.
  • Experience coordinating benefits, maintaining employee files, and working with HR Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Works well with minimal supervision.

Job Offer

This Standalone HR Manager role offers:

  • All employees are bonus eligible and the target bonus for the HR Manager role is 10%.
  • 5% employer pension contribution (after 3 months).
