East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) was formed July 1, 2006, with the merger of ambulance services covering Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, East Anglia and Essex.
EEAST have a bold vision to ensure that the people of the East of England region are provided with excellent emergency and urgent care from our dedicated team of nearly 5,000 staff and 1,500 volunteers. Their overarching aim is to place patients and staff at the heart of everything they do while delivering their vision of ‘outstanding care, exceptional people, every hour of every day. The vision is supported by our organisational goals:
- Be an exceptional place to work, volunteer and learn
- Provide outstanding quality of care and performance
- Be excellent collaborators and innovators as system partners
- Be an environmentally and financially sustainable organisation
However, EEAST has some major problems they need to tackle in order to achieve these aims particularly in delivering a systematic change in organisational culture, developing and creating new partnerships with communities and stakeholders, whilst strengthening performance and quality – all areas which the new Executive will drive forward.
This is a real opportunity for innovative thinking and strategic leadership which could be an exemplar to the rest of the UK’s ambulance trusts.
As a member of Unitary Board, you will share collective responsibility and accountability for delivering on commitments for a safe place to work and a safe place for patients.
The role of the Director of Strategy and Culture is a pivotal one within the Trust. The post holder is a member of the Executive Team and acts as the principal adviser to the Chair, Chief Executive, Board of Directors and the organisation on all aspects of Organisational Strategy and Cultural development.
In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to hold overall responsibility for the development of both a cultural plan and a people plan and work closely with the Director or People Services on workforce planning and development strategies with a view to creating a positive workplace culture where we as viewed as an Employer of Choice. Key will be creating an organisation that is inclusive, supportive and high performing - a place all our people can to be proud to work for. This role will hold Executive responsibility for advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the Trust.
Once the foundation of cultural change has been secured the role will then spend more time on the strategic development of the organisation, with the intention of this role leading the next version of the Trusts’ corporate strategy when it comes due for renewal in the mid-2020s.
Your sector background is not important, what is critical is that you will be able to demonstrate how you contributed to the strategic organisational and cultural development of a large complex organisation thereby enabling it to deliver on its mission and objectives.
You are a strong strategic leader, who possesses solid business acumen, with the ability to influence and build internal and external relationships but also will have the strength of character to challenge and be challenged.
In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to hold overall responsibility for the development of both a cultural plan and a people plan and work closely with the Director or People Services on workforce planning and development strategies with a view to creating a positive workplace culture where we as viewed as an Employer of Choice.
