Deputy Director of People with in NHS, 12 month FTC, up to £100k pa + benefits.

Your new role

  • Full time post - WFH 3 days per week, 2 days office based.
  • Work closely with the Director of People to deliver a comprehensive, high quality People and OD service that is aligned to the strategic and operational needs of the organisation.
  • Deputise for the Director of People on a regular basis internally and externally on the full spectrum of their role. This includes representation at Executive, board, local, regional and national meetings. Providing specialist knowledge across all the functional People and OD services.
  • On behalf of the Director produce the annual operating plan for the function, Board Assurance framework objectives, and other Board and Trust governance requirements.
  • Lead on the strategic development and operational delivery of a dynamic People and Organisational Development strategy to be responsive and support the on-going transformation.
  • Work closely with the Transformation Director, Medical Director and Chief Nurse (and their deputies) to ensure that the programmes of work set out in the People strategy enables the organisation to transform and met its objectives.


What you'll need to succeed
NHS HR experience gained in a NHS organisation.
Significant experience and demonstrable track record of OD & workforce development initiatives
- Up to date specialist knowledge and skills of OD & Development within the NHS
- Significant experience of operating at senior manager/executive director/board level
- Extensive leadership and operational management experience in a medium/large acute healthcare provider setting
- Significant senior management experience within a complex service provider organisation
- Substantial management experience and achievement at operational level plus evidence of significant achievement in strategic level projects or work streams
- Experience of leading complex service development and redesign in a complex organisation
- Understanding of current NHS National Policies
- Demonstrably high level of understanding of financial control and management
- Significant recent and relevant experience of budget and staff management
- Experience of managing change projects during periods of change
- Proven track record of management innovation and service improvements
- Knowledge of corporate and governance arrangements to deliver appropriate governance and assurance processes within the Workforce & OD function
