Does taking on responsibility for building data and digital capability for one of the region's most high-profile employers appeal? Combine this with the accountability for transforming the delivery of learning to build greater resilience, increase time to competence, and importantly engage the modern learner, then we have the perfect role for you.

Our retained client is a well-known and well-loved financial services business with a membership of over 750,000, total assets over £20bn and around 1,400 colleagues based across the whole of the UK. It is a modern, member-owned mutual, backed by 146 years of heritage.

Putting its members at the heart of its long-term business priorities, it has a vision to be Britain's most successful building society. This means balancing strong financial performance with unrivalled customer experience, in a well-controlled, risk managed environment which provides exemplary opportunities for personal growth for an ambitious workforce.

It's a friendly, community focused, values-led organisation. Today it's focusing on building future talent and capability, transforming the way it does business in response to its customers rapidly changing needs and demographics by building a collaborative and flexible workforce.

We're delighted to be helping them hire the newly created role of Technical Capability and Learning Technologies Lead, reporting into the Head of Learning who joined earlier this year.

This role has a big and diverse agenda which at its essence is all about enabling and leading change and transformation.

Defining the support and development of emerging critical capabilities across the society including data and digital, whilst identifying the right interventions for divisional technical needs where professional qualifications are required or desired will be key.

Additionally, this role will lead the optimisation of learning outcomes, challenging how they deliver their regulatory and mandated training, and specifically looking to modernise their induction programmes in customer-facing divisions.

Working closely with the Head of Learning, Head of HR, Talent Lead and Heads of Functions and external providers as required, you will design (or curate), develop, and deliver high-impact targeted interventions focused on building future technical capabilities and building engaging, relevant and modern development and training solutions.

They expect technology to play an important role in unlocking how they deliver development interventions in the future, but that requires thoughtful investment and the generation of buy-in and commitment to the business stakeholders who will benefit.

This agenda is not fully formed, so they are looking to you to drive the detail and lead the change management that will fuel its progress.

You will bring in-depth L&D experience, ideally from multi-site customer centric organisations which are going through transformation and change (however which organisations aren't these days)!?

You will be well networked in this space with like-minded practitioners, have significant experience of influencing internal stakeholders and a passion for igniting a lifelong learning culture.

From a personal perspective, we're looking for a technically strong self-confident, persuasive, collaborative specialist, someone who is used to working with ambiguity and at pace. You will have the gravitas and credibility to be quickly valued by the senior leadership team.

As would be expected in a financial services business such as this, all members of the HR leadership team will need to be comfortable with the in-depth data analysis and insight to inform decisions and planning.

The organisation has recently moved to an attractive new Head Office site in Leeds which has fantastic collaborative space for working with your team and stakeholders c3 days pw on average.

This really is a rare greenfield opportunity and if it sounds like the challenge you're looking for, then we'd be delighted to hear from you.
