The Personnel Officer will report to the Lead Personnel Officer. As first point of contact for seafarers, the Personnel Officer is responsible for ensuring that seafarers are appointed to the appropriate ships, ensure compliance with certification and be the first point of contact for TGS Seafarers.

Description

  • Treating safety and environmental compliance as a top priority

  • Interact closely with Personnel Officers and take ownership of junior officer scheduling

  • Interact closely with Lead Personnel Officer for personnel scheduling. Owner of crew changes. Nominate ports for reliefs. Act as the liaison/contact person for all officers in matters of scheduling regarding appointments to and from vessels

  • Ensure relevant details are passed to regional service centres in order they can carry out logistics administration for relevant seafarers. Follow up with service centres on same, especially in the case of changing vessel prospects

  • Ensure all officers joining vessels are in full compliance with statutory and company requirements with regard to certification and training

  • Act as the team HR partner for sea staff. Forge relationships with sea staff and be the 'go to' contact for all employee relations matters

  • Arranging for support, maintenance and repatriation for crew members who have landed ashore for any reason

  • Providing appropriate personnel information to Accounts Department in respect of manning/payroll related matters

  • Arrange and ensure relevant parties are made aware of new Hire orientation procedures and current sea staff visit requirements in local office

  • Acknowledge resignation letters and conduct exit interview to establish the reason for leaving

  • Apply the dismissal or disciplinary procedure when required

  • Manage the process when seafarers announce retirement

  • Administer the service awards program within the team. This will include providing necessary anniversary milestone and promotion data to corporate communications for inclusion in company publications

  • Assist with the preparation of team manning and travel budgets as required

  • Participate and provide input to monthly and annual crew and travel analysis/OPEX reports as determined by Fleet Director

  • Participate in Team emergency response team

  • Active participation of seafarer conferences and events

  • Contact for 'After Office Hours' for their respective Teams, as necessary.

Profile

  • Ability to respond positively to customers in an effective manner

  • Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications

  • Knowledge and experience in the industry.
