    Job Description

    Head of Talent Acquisition and Resourcing Purpose:

  • Develop a comprehensive talent acquisition and retention strategy that delivers the right skills to the organisation and retains our talent, supporting the organisation in achieving its objectives
  • Establish a robust workforce planning process, work with all stakeholders to ensure the right people with the right skills are appointed to the right jobs in a timely manner.
  • Implement the most appropriate and cost-effective strategies and initiatives to positively influence the image of RSPCA as an employer, thinking creatively about how to attract new talent from a diverse range of backgrounds. Representing the Society as a great place to work is key.
  • Implementation of a new Applicant Tracking System to streamline all processes for both candidates and managers.
  • Lead the Resourcing team in a collaborative and motivating way, ensuring they are involved, engaged and fully delivering the Resourcing agenda and resourcing a significant number of roles per annum.
  • Design and drive the adoption of appropriate and targeted recruitment campaigns across all roles in the organisation e.g. attraction of graduates, apprenticeships, interns, specialist roles as well as general recruitment.
  • Work closely with the Learning and Development teams, increasing competency and confidence of all recruiting managers to represent the RSPCA in an appropriate way. Promote the organisation and brand, as well as ensuring there is a consistent candidate experience across all roles and regions.
  • Leverage technologies to develop creative strategies that will effectively scale up for a nationally dispersed workforce.
  • Proactively anticipate challenges to the business and people by leveraging data and utilising HR metrics in decision making.
  • Implement mechanisms to track and monitor recruitment spend, including agency expenditure, ROI and VFM with a view to reducing agency spend, furthermore building a direct resourcing model.
  • Model the organisational values, hold yourself and others accountable, translate strategic objectives into actionable items that inspire others to behave and operate at their best.

    Key Competencies for Head of Talent Acquisition and Resourcing:

  • Specialist knowledge - Understands technical or professional aspects of resourcing and talent attraction. Continually maintains technical knowledge. Hold relevant psychometric and technical qualifications.
  • Commercial & strategic thinking - Looks for opportunities to add bottom line value, with the ability to detect and manage risk. Demonstrates a holistic view of issues, events and activities, with a perception of their longer term impact or wider implications.
  • Planning, action orientation & results driven - Organises and prioritises work, with a clear readiness to make decisions, takes initiative and focuses on delivery.
  • Quality orientation - Shows awareness of goals and standards. Ensure that quality and productivity standards are met.
  • Influencing & engagement - Ability to influence, motivate and empower others in order to reach organisational goals. Solid negotiation skills required.
  • Oral and written communication - Speaks clearly, fluently and in a compelling manner to both individuals and groups. Designs and delivers presentations in a clear and concise manner, using appropriate grammar, style and language for the audience.
  • Flexibility and resilience - Successfully adapts to changing demands and conditions. Maintains effective work behaviour in the face of setbacks or pressure. Remains calm, stable and in control of themselves.
  • Personal motivation - Commits self to work hard towards goals. Shows enthusiasm and career commitment.
  • Sector experience - Have a wide variety of sector experience, ideally most within not for profit and charities.
  • Leadership - Lead the departmental team and act as a role model as part of the P&C leadership team.Communicating and engaging with individuals and teams as needed to ensure they have clear direction and know what they have to achieve to be successful.
