Senior HR Consultant

Job Type:
Full time or part time, minimum 30 hours per week.
Salary: Circa 50k.
Location: The role is home based with regular meetings to clients in London, and internal weekly meetings in our London office, with some travel across the South East.

About us and the role

We’re looking for a Senior HR Consultant to join our team of experienced consultants to deliver a high quality and professional generalist HR service to our clients. You will provide expert and complex HR advice and guidance whilst using excellent interpersonal skills to develop lasting relationships that strengthen and grow existing and new accounts.

We’re an ambitious and growing company and we thrive on partnering our clients to ensure their strategic and day to day HR requirements are exceeded.  With our client base expanding, we are looking to enhance our team with a Senior HR Consultant role covering predominantly London and surrounding areas but will also require occasional travel to other parts of South East England.

You will work with clients and colleagues to competently and efficiently handle the full breadth of HR issues. This will include employee relations, resourcing, organisation development, training, pay and benefits, performance management, people management and business change.

With a commercial approach to your work, you will support clients in online and/or on-site meetings with a variety of complex HR related matters including disciplinary/grievance investigations and hearings, negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, advising on and managing restructures and redundancy consultations, and leading on TUPE processes.  Coupled with this, you will lead on a variety of one-off HR projects.  You will produce professional and complex investigation reports and letters across the employee lifecycle and draft and implement policies in line with current legislation.

Your role will involve working closely with an experienced team of consultants and, although there will initially be no line management responsibility within the role, there may be opportunities to manage a team of consultants in the future.  You will oversee projects and seek the support of colleagues in these projects to ensure clients’ needs are met and team members can develop their skills and experience.

About you

You will be CIPD qualified to at least level 5, although level 7 would be preferable.  You will have experience of operating as an HR Business Partner or HR Manager in a generalist position with proven experience of advising management on a wide range of complex HR issues.

As well as having experience of advising or chairing formal HR meetings such as grievances/disciplinaries, capability and consultation meetings, you will also be experienced in carrying out complex investigations and drafting policies and procedures.

You will have the ability to gather and analyse a large volume of data and articulate it accurately and succinctly in reports and outcome letters that will be used for decision making in complex HR processes and projects.  You will be experienced in drafting a range of letters and documentation across all HR processes, ensuring legal compliance and mitigation of risk.

With excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your style to suit a variety of clients, you will have the ability to influence and manage key stakeholders enabling you to build and develop lasting relationships with our clients.

A full clean UK driving licence is a must as is a willingness to travel throughout the South East and occasionally elsewhere in the UK. You will be comfortable in using a range of IT systems and proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.

Experience of working within a client services environment or a consultancy role would be advantageous but is not essential.

We want our workforce to be more representative of all sections of society and we therefore encourage applications from people of all backgrounds.

The benefits

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including 29 days holiday (plus bank holidays) pro rata, opportunities for development and progression, flexibility and an opportunity to be part of a progressive and expanding business.

The process

Please apply with your CV and covering letter as soon as possible.
