Standalone/Site HR Manager role to manage HR for a manufacturing site in West Berkshire. Supporting circa 170 FTE heads, you will offer a broadly Generalist range of HR services to include HR strategy, ER, performance management, recruitment, employee engagement, people development, and HR policy and process development.
You will have experience in a standalone or Site HRM role, and be happy being onsite 5 days per week.

Description

As the Standalone/Site HR Manager for this company in W. Berkshire, your role is to ensure that a professional and valued service is offered to internal customers. Specifically this will involve: managing employee relations; ensuring that effective performance management is demonstrated and that managers are supported in gaining value from their teams; managing business change effectively and supporting and managing specific HR projects as they arise.

In time, this role will line manage a Human Resources Administrator and a Receptionist.

Key duties will include:

  • To provide a proactive generalist HR service to the site leadership team, to other teams and to employees encompassing: employee relations, communications, resourcing, people development, performance management and rewards.
  • Provide support and guidance to line managers throughout the disciplinary and grievance process, including attending formal meetings and preparing paperwork as required.
  • To manage the reception roles and ensure that they add value.
  • To assist with operational and other improvements as required.
  • To ensure that effective labour planning takes place.
  • To manage recruitment at all levels.
  • To manage the full range of employment lifecycle processes for all employment categories.
  • To assist with the management of Learning and Development, including appraisal management and course selection / allocation.
  • To provide advice to Managers as part of the annual pay review and management bonus processes.
  • To manage all required labour reporting and other HR reporting for the business.
  • To support and implement performance management processes and practices underpinning organisational improvement - including goal and objective setting and review.
  • To support training and development initiatives and to undertake formal and informal coaching / training sessions as required.
  • To support employee engagement initiatives across the business.
  • To assist in the development of broader HR strategy, policies and procedures, either locally, on a UK basis or a divisional basis.
  • To consult with employee representatives as required in order to effectively deliver change - on budget and to time.
  • Advise managers on the interpretation and implementation of any redundancies or contract variations.
  • To undertake or to support additional and specific HR projects as required, either locally, on a UK basis or a divisional basis.
  • To assist in improving data quality, setting KPIs and ensuring effective utilisation of systems and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage the employee absence levels.
  • Advise managers on the processes of addressing sickness and absenteeism issues including unauthorised absence, redeployment and Capability Cases.
  • Grade and validate all new roles through Mercer methodology.
  • Advise and administer annual pay review.
  • Ensure all Employee benefits and recognition are competitive, communicated and administered effectively.

This role does require the incumbent to be onsite 5 days per week. Visibility is key for this role.

Profile

  • Relevant experience within a standalone or Site HR Manager role.
  • Demonstrable and strong experience of providing an independent HR support and advisory service.
  • You will be happy in a hands-on and visible HR capacity, very much in a shopfloor environment.
  • Experience of site and process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation.
  • Experience of change management.
  • Strong experience of recruiting and developing others at all levels.
  • Experience of talent management / succession planning.
  • Experience of manufacturing (preferred).
  • Other industries considered would include engineering, distribution, supply chain, and potentially retail and hospitality.
  • CIPD accredited qualification desirable.
  • Ideally educated to degree level.
  • Proficient MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and presentation skills.
  • Ability to act independently.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.

This role does require the incumbent to be onsite 5 days per week. Visibility is key for this role.
