An opportunity to join a globally recognised firm working within the defence industry. A pioneering company specialising in the manufacturing and supply of pioneering equipment in that sector. Based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, working within a hybrid model.

Your new role
My client is looking to appoint a Senior HR Manager who will be fully responsible for both operations and some projects. The role ensures people, process and technology are utilised in the most effective manner, supporting the European Regional Strategy and overall HR people strategy, as determined by the Director, Human Resources. Key responsibilities will include;

  • Establish and maintain best in class core processes for recruitment, performance management, succession planning, administration, employee relations and HR systems maintenance any posts reporting to the post-holder
  • Enable the HR Business Partners and Leaders/Managers in the organisation to deliver HR excellence through the employee lifecycle from candidate attraction through exit
  • Formulation and management of HR Ops team budget
  • Ensure that the employee relations framework is established to manage all discipline, grievance, performance management, absence management and redundancy cases; develop and maintain fit-for-purpose ER model supporting the business to enable fair, prompt and effect implementation of policies
  • Accountable for the HR administration service
  • Ensure that all HR processes are in line with ISO accreditation, future requirements for certifications and accreditation and internal audit requirements
  • Ensure that HR metrics are established and delivered to the business to enable planning, understand organisational health and available for any required customer activity including bids and proposals
  • Ensure that the merit review cycle, bonus planning and processes are implemented and adhered too, adapting for in-country amendments where required
  • Ensuring that all HR policies & procedures are implemented, updated and that managers are trained to comply and employees understand the content

  • Pro-actively manage the relationship with the supplier, engaging in review sessions and performance feedback
  • Ensure that the on-boarding process is effective for requirements
  • HR Operations
  • Responsible for ensuring that the service level objectives are agreed with the business and delivered
  • Oversee all HR operations activity in relation to transfers/MA/Divestment
  • HR Projects
  • Project management and coordination of large scale projects including corporate roll-outs such as entity consolidation, policy flow down and harmonisation programmes

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Experience gained in a HR Shared Services environment and within a corporate matrix company
  • Managed HR admin teams - this role will team lead the HR Administrators as well as HR System Lead
  • You will need a solid HR background and experience in managing a HR team.
  • Evidenced success in end-to-end delivery of concurrent HR projects, supporting business leaders and the HR team through change
  • Leading teams in HR service delivery with a focus on customer excellence throughout the employee and organisational lifecycle
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement in policy and process design and development across the HR process spectrum
  • Experienced HRIS user with responsibility for reports and/or dashboarding
  • Working in complex matrix organisations across international regions
  • Experience of maintaining and managing a range of competitive benefits aligned with talent attraction and retention strategy
  • Commercial HR Generalist background, with experience in employee relations, reward, resourcing and professional development
  • Management of preferred external suppliers
