Manchester is our people.

So, working in human resources in a council that is 100% focussed on our people should be right up your street.

Manchester is and always will be a city that buzzes with culture and innovation and pride – it is one of the great cities of the world, and the city council is no different – we are ambitious, proud of our heritage, focussed on the future and deeply connected to our people.

Our HR and OD teams are right at the heart of that buzz.  It’s no accident that our symbol is the worker bee.  Our people are hugely talented and resourceful and committed, and we are building our teams and adapting our ways of working as we go.

It is hugely important to us that the whole city council reflects the talent and diversity of Manchester, and that starts right here in HR and OD, so we particularly want to hear from talented and diverse people.   Your background and qualifications are not as important to us as your ability to continue to learn and grow and get stuff done.  We are about delivery.

Working within our Corporate Core Delivery service our HR Officers provide high-quality specialist advice, support and information to enable the delivery of service and organisational objectives.

This is a full HR service role, delivering recruitment processes, compliance activity, HR casework and managing the agency contract to ensure appropriate and cost effective engagement of agency workers.  You will also support managers with complex people issues and empower them to deliver effective performance management.  You will manage workforce changes and service redesign projects to ensure sustained and effective organisational change.

These kinds of roles in this kind of team in such a great organisation and city don’t come up very often so what are you waiting for?  Get in touch, make an application, we can’t wait to meet you and hear what you can add.

For a confidential chat please contact our recruitment partner at Penna: Andreas.Efthymiou@penna.com or call 07546 415 794

Closing date: 20th December 2021

This post is also subject to satisfactory references, proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and other pre-employment checks where applicable.

Manchester City Council is committed to giving fair support to members of the Armed Forces and veterans, whilst recognising and remembering the sacrifices they have made. The aim of The Armed Forces Covenant is to ensure that the Armed Forces and veterans are not disadvantaged, when applying for vacancies with Manchester City Council. Armed Forces and veterans will be guaranteed an interview where they meet the Minimum requirements for the role.

Manchester City Council values equality and works to provide a fair and inclusive environment for a workforce that is as diverse as the communities it serves. We want to further increase the diversity of our workforce, in particular the number of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff and disabled staff at all levels of the Council. This advert is open to all applicants, and we would particularly welcome applications from candidates identifying with one or both of those characteristics.
