A highly successful insurance business based in the City of London now have an exciting opportunity for a People Partner (HRBP) to join their team. The business is performing incredibly well and have doubled in size over the last 12 months and are on a continued trajectory of growth. They are approximately 200 employees in size and boast a truly collaborative and harmonious culture.

The HR Team is headed up by a new People Director and this role will report directly into this person. It also consists of a People Administrator, Payroller and a Recruiter. The HRBP will be a trusted partner to the people leaders (and employees). the People Partner is responsible for ensuring high quality operational HR, as well as to provide expert advice and guidance on people strategy initiatives to support the achievement of business and functional objectives.

This role will suit candidates that have either Insurance or Financial Services sector experience, strong ER knowledge and experience, all round generalist exposure and previous history of owning their own client group across the entire employee lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the functional leadership teams and other stakeholders
  • Embed People strategy and ensure operational excellence in all people practices
  • Ensure the functional/departmental priorities are represented in the overall People strategy and that functionally specific people initiatives are supported where relevant
  • Advise and support leaders and employees to implement People policies and ensure alignment across the organisation
  • Take a lead role in leadership recruitment, compensation and displacement activity to ensure we have the right talent pipeline in place.
  • Consults with leaders on employee issues including disciplinary issues, employee development, retention, compensation philosophy, restructuring and organisational development needs.
  • Fully embed talent management philosophy.
  • Supports leaders in assessing the skills and development needs of emerging leaders.
  • Works with leadership teams to evaluate training needs (at a functional level) and provides support to leaders in developing their learning strategies/priorities.
  • Ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement across all areas of the employee life cycle.
  • Establish key performance metrics upon which to manage service levels / service excellence.
  • Assume day to day management responsibility for our People Coordinator and act as the liaison and escalation point for our Payroll Advisor.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of systems/process improvements and policy development across people operations.
  • Provide coaching and guidance for our People Coordinator to provide first level support on all employee relations queries
  • Develop a mini "Centre of Expertise" for employee relations working to ensure our policies and practices remain relevant and fit for purpose
  • Upskill our people leaders to support proactive management of employee relations activity
  • Work with external vendors to ensure HSUB are appropriately supported in complex employee relations activity whilst trying to build our in-house knowledge and expertise so we don't rely too heavily on external counsel
  • Working with the People Director, providing expert advice and supporting in the development and deployment of people initiatives aligned to the business priorities.
  • Collaborating with HGS P&C colleagues globally to ensure that people initiatives implemented by Home Office represent the needs of the UK Branch.
  • Contributing to thought leadership and actively participating in working groups with our HGS P&C colleagues.
  • Actively engage with Next Co to ensure that we are representing the voices of our employees in our people initiatives (primarily from a change management perspective, but also in the design phase)
  • Lead the implementation of systems and process improvements across people operations

Requirements:

  • Proven HR Generalist and Employee relations experience
  • Demonstrated skills/experience in organisational change, talent development & performance management
  • Project management
  • Policy development
  • Experience of strategic workforce planning
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and its application in a business context
  • Strong consultancy skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Interviewing, coaching and counselling skills
  • Collaborates, influences and builds alignment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with good command of English language
  • Good developer of people - provides guidance and mentoring support for team members and colleagues across the organisation
  • Good business acumen
  • Outcome oriented, focuses decisions and actions around creating value for the business
  • Ability to work independently and take decisions
  • Models behaviours that demonstrates commitment to organisational values
  • Takes the initiative to manage own personal development
