Learning and Development Manager

Financial Information Business

My client are a global Financial Information, Events and Publishing business based in Central London. Due to growth, they are looking to hire their first L&D specialist. The experienced Learning & Development Manager will be able to play a key part in delivering people initiatives to support the business strategy and ensure the foundations of good L&D practices are embedded.

Key duties/responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the design, development and delivery of a learning strategy and solutions to support the business objectives
  • Working with Senior Leaders and HR Business Partners to identify the learning needs
  • Work with business managers and HRBPs to develop succession plans, development paths, training and retention initiatives.
  • Creating a brand and identity for the L&D proposition, driving awareness and engagement through informative and exciting communications
  • Assess and refine current in-flight projects, such as inductions/on-boarding programmes, competency frameworks, new entrant programmes, succession planning, LinkedIn Learning
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify capabilities for the future by designing and delivering the programme that supports the delivering of these capabilities
  • Working with HRBPs and the business in defining career paths and competency frameworks
  • Assess development needs identified in the PDPs and design and deliver solutions
  • Evaluate the success of learning solutions via such means as training evaluations, observation, surveys, data collection/analysis etc bringing about improvement where appropriate.
  • Development of an annual training calendar
  • Co-ordinate the administration of training courses, including diary management and database management

Key experience/skills:

  • You will be an experienced learning and development professional.
  • You will have solid experience of delivering to a dispersed workforce i.e. blend of office, hybrid and homeworkers and you will be adept at designing engaging learning material to deliver via both traditional and digital channels to support our blended approach.
  • You will have deep experience in designing curricula and creation of content, using a range of delivery methods including the effective use of technology and online tools
  • As a strong facilitator and coach, you will be skilled in delivering engaging learning interventions and you will be passionate about helping people to learn and grow.
  • You will have the ability to think problems through creatively, balanced with a proactive approach to managing a busy workload and achieving results.
  • You will know the latest learning practice, trends and emerging thinking and be keen to keep up with developments and act as a role model for learning.
  • You will have experience in delivering face to face and virtual training courses to all levels within an organisation
  • You will be experienced in developing mentoring and coaching initiatives
  • Ideally you will have experience in designing and delivering learning strategies and content to a global workforce and understand how to flex your initiatives based on your audience
