Ashley Kate are pleased to be working with a national charity on a Payroll Manager position.  Managing a team of 15 you will be the key person in terms of leading and developing the complex payroll function and work closely with the Head of People services in ensuring all processes are followed and payroll is completed in a timely and correct manner.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, there are many TUPE terms and will continue to be TUPE'd-in/out staff.  This role will lead on TUPE in respect of payroll measures.

The Group Payroll Manager will be part of the People Services team which includes; HR, resourcing, recruitment compliance and Learning and Development.
There are a mix of pension providers including local government and NHS so ideally you will have a strong understanding of partnering with these bodies.

Group Payroll Manager - About the role.

  • You will manage the team and identify training and development needs so previous line management experience is absolutely essential.
  • Processing end to end monthly payroll for a number of complex companies.
  • You will lead on RTI, Tax Year end and all final reconciliation.
  • P11d and submission.
  • Managing Auto- enrolment, overseeing pension and providers and being the final sign off on pension reconciliation.
  • Liaising with auditors
  • Ensuring at all time compliance with HMRC legislation.
  • Managing the team budget and working closely with the HR function in terms of MI reporting including Gender pay gap.
  • System structure and configuration management


Payroll Manager - About you.

  • CIPP qualified
  • Technical knowledge of all HMRC payroll requirements
  • Able to navigate with confidence TUPE
  • Experience of pay grade spines
  • Advance user of peopleXD(CoreHR)
  • Able to articulate orally, or in writing, complex payroll and pension issues with ease
  • Good leadership skills with a coaching approach to support development of the payroll team
  • Change management or experience of payroll system changes would be ideal
