HR Systems Transformation Lead

Negotiable Location

Fixed Term Contract, 18 months

At the RCN, people matter. It is only through our people that we are able to deliver for our members and provide the high-quality products and services that keep our members and other customers with us, and attract new ones every day.

And in the People and OD Department, our priority is enabling the RCN to succeed through its people. With over 900 employees, and more than 250 recruitment campaigns a year, systems are core to this and from 2022 we will be looking to replace a number of these. As our HR Transformation Project Lead, you will help us to find and implement new HR, payroll and recruitment systems to enable us to improve our people processes and enhance the experience of our job applicants and staff.

Working as part of a project team, this role will lead the project from the perspective of the RCN and RCNi HR and payroll functions. Ensuring the needs and views of colleagues are represented, and enabling the selection and implementation of new systems which fulfil our current and future requirements, this role will be core to the successful implementation of new processes and systems across the employee journey from hire to retire.

From procurement to internal communications, process design to user acceptance testing, this role will get involved at every stage of the project. With systems that impact every one of our people, you’ll make a real difference to the working lives of our people here at the RCN, and in turn the working lives of our members in the nursing community.

Part of the People and Organisational Development department, who are based at various locations across the UK, the base of this role is negotiable - with some travel likely once COVID-19 pandemic conditions allow. The role is anticipated to be 35 hours per week however those seeking part time hours are encouraged to apply as this will be considered.

For this role you’ll have experience of leading complex HRIS replacement projects at a significant scale. You’ll have an in-depth understanding of the needs of a HR function – including payroll and recruitment activities – gained from your previous experience of working in or with the function – and a track record of improving ways of working, systems and processes.

You’ll bring an exceptional eye for detail and a logical and methodical approach that allows you to not only ensure successful delivery of a project but also the design and implementation of processes and systems that are effective, efficient and GDPR-compliant.

With a commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience, you’ll have excellent communication skills – including the ability to draw out the needs and requirements of others, to negotiate and reach compromise where needed, and to engage and upskill others in new systems and ways of working. You’ll also have the ability to build productive working relationships with colleagues and suppliers.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after your customers. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. Our pay is highly competitive with annual leave up to 32 days plus bank holidays. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme.

Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. Many of our employees enjoy flexible working enabling them to deliver results whilst having a good work life balance. We offer generous maternity, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave packages.

As a result of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic most of our staff are currently working from home. When this ends, we’ll start trialling blended office and home working to empower our people to do their best work recognising that, to give our best, we must be able to balance the demands of work and home.
