Your new role
A great opportunity has arisen for a Pathways to Work Officer to join the Economic Growth and Skills team on a temporary basis (until 30th June 2022). This post is a full-time role and the team is pleased to offer hybrid and flexible working patterns as well as a friendly and enthusiastic working environment.

As a Pathways to Work Officer, you will be responsible for supporting residents towards work and for helping businesses and employers meet their recruitment needs. You will support the development and delivery of residents led skills and employment projects and initiatives. You will support delivery of pathways schemes through monitoring and compliance including securing evidence of employment and sustained outcomes. You will work with a specific cohort of residents helping them overcome barrier to work e.g. parents with young children, those from the most deprived wards.

You will increase the recruitment of new entrants and support the upskilling of staff in an employment sector in Southend to improve retention and career progression. You will be a primary point of contact with sector businesses in Southend with respect to recruitment and development of skills, and to liaise with relevant colleagues within and external to the SBC to respond to enquiries in an efficient, accurate and timely manner.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will be able to work in a confident manner, liaising and establishing good relationships with clients/customers/staff. You will need to be a highly organised and efficient person, with high level of literacy, IT competency, and well developed written and verbal communication skills as the job involves frequent liaison and coordination with stakeholders and members of the public. Fantastic interpersonal skills are required for this role as you be working with a range of people from different background. A good understanding of event planning, organisation and management is essential for this role. Experience of project management will be desirable for this role as you will be managing various projects at any one time.

To meet the need of this role, you might be required to attend occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.

A full and clean driving license as well as access to own car is essential for this role.
