Credit Control Finance Officer - £20k - £25k City of London

The Role:

As a Credit Control Finance Officer you will be responsible for ensuring that client revenue is collected in a timely and consistent manner. You will be required to support day to day financial transactions - receipt of payments from clients, matching & allocations of payments, reconciliation of client accounts and statements as well as dealing with any queries effectively. You will be expected to ensure existing as well as new clients are regularly credit checked and vetted to mitigate any risk. You will be responsible for ensuring aged debt is managed to terms and to reduce outstanding balances.

You will be working in a dynamic finance team, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager. This position offers the opportunity to be part of an established business and to develop a first-class Credit Control function as well as support the Finance Team in ad-hoc projects. This will give the incumbent an opportunity to work within other areas of Finance.

About You:

A passion for a career in Credit or Finance, you will have the desire to be part of an established team as well as be the lead Credit Controller.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collection of all debts for the Group, liaising with clients, account managers, vendors, as well as internal staff
  • Using effective communication over the phone and email to build rapport with external stakeholders
  • Embedding a robust debt collection strategy to minimise aged debt
  • Credit checking and vetting existing and new clients
  • Ensuring client billing details, addresses and invoice contacts are correct
  • System synchronisation between CRM and General Ledger
  • Allocating cash receipts to the appropriate invoices on a daily basis across all bank accounts and currencies
  • Maintaining client Self-Bills to internal ledger
  • Ensuring PO's are in place for relevant accounts
  • Following client terms of business for any specific collection processes
  • Maintain accurate account notes for each client with up-to-date information on anything outstanding
  • Produce a monthly aged debtors report with commentary for the board report
  • Cover for other members of the finance team and ad-hoc projects as required

Key Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years in a credit control / finance assistant position
  • Confident communicator, especially over the phone
  • Excellent email etiquette
  • Well organised, prompt at dealing with queries
  • Excel experience
  • Systems proficient, with the ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Someone who is high energy, hands on and detail orientated
  • Customer focused approach - dealing with queries face to face, over the phone and in written correspondence

What is on offer:

Salary

  • Base salary circa £25k

Bonus

  • Up to 10% of salary as an annual discretionary bonus on individual and company performance
