I have partnered with a boutique Investment Bank in their search for a HR Business Partner to join the HR department of 7 individuals. This role will line manage the HR Assistant, but the main responsibility is to manage the full employee life cycle including sourcing, hiring, induction, performance management, development, retention, and the separation of staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as business partner for the Investment Banking & Research departments
  • First point of contact for leaders and managers of those business area, pulling in other HR functions (such as recruitment and reward), where applicable
  • Main contact for complex HR queries, including but not limiting to offer, on-boarding, pay and compensation, performance, training and development, etc.
  • Meet with managers to understand/identify issues, future needs and trends, finding and proposing appropriate solutions with an overall focus on culture, productivity and retention
  • Supporting the business area to plan ahead, making sensible recommendations and supporting them to achieve their departmental objectives
  • Support and coach managers through year-end appraisal process, performance development plans (PDP's) and performance concerns
  • Support the talent process, help managers to highlight and develop key talent through a combination of structured and ad-hoc training programmes, deliver manager training within your area and identify future training needs
  • Responsible for the management of the HR Assistant
  • Act as the HR Representative on the D&I Committee, offering advice, guidance and expertise on employment legislation and HR expertise, supporting diversity initiatives proposed by the committee
  • Maintain oversight of recruitment and on-boarding processes, including selection, interview, offer creation, background screening and induction within your business areas.
  • Support and advise the HR team on complex recruitment, on-boarding or background screening issues/queries
  • Maintain oversight, process (where applicable), and offer guidance to the team on the following lifecycle processes within your business areas;
  • Leave of absences - maternity, paternity, sabbaticals, parental leave, unpaid leave, jury service etc.

  • Proactive, self-motivated with a task-orientated approach
  • Demonstrable experience in multi-tasking and prioritising heavy and varied workloads
  • Have an understanding of the regulatory environment, and values and abilities consistent with the FCA conduct rules.
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
