Hays HR are proud to work in partnership with our Professional Services Client based in Cardiff who are looking to recruit a HR Professional, for the newly created role of 'The Head of Sickness & Absence Management' (SAM). The successful candidate will have full responsibility, for overseeing the effective service delivery of SAM services to the workforce of the UK's leading professional services firm. This is a very high profile and impactful role, not only will you be providing world-class support to the business internal clients, you'll be making an impact for all the hugely influential organisations that our client works with too. Covering all our distinct areas: Human Resources, Clients & Industries, Finance & Legal, Central Business Services, National Quality & Risk Management, Technology & Digital Services, and Real Estate. Your new role
.Your role Governance & Leadership

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for establishing and maintaining the new SAM operating model, from an organisational design, process, policy and technology perspective; actively engaging with senior stakeholders from across our organisation to embed new ways of working
  • Continued evaluation of the operating model and identification of continuous improvement opportunities
  • Establish new reporting model in partnership with vendors, HR MI and the Business and evolve this in response to business needs and emerging trends / thought leadership
  • Ensure the SAM team delivers high quality services in lien with SLAs and within budget (including both internal and vendor spend)
  • Partner with Business leaders to identify and address any areas of noncompliance
  • Chair of Sickness absence and Workplace Adjustment Committee
  • Manage diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

Service Delivery And Vendor Management

  • Accountable for establishing and stabilising customer-centric service delivery within a multi-vendor environment
  • Manage performance of Sickness and Absence Management, ensuring that internal SLAs are met
  • Manage relationships with SAM third party providers and ensure that delivery meets the required SLAs/KPIs, working closely with internal Vendor Management and Procurement SMEs as required
  • Collaborate with Wellbeing and Benefits teams to ensure management of all related contracts is aligned.
  • Consider consolidating vendor / contract management responsibilities over time as part of continuous improvement.
  • Establish regular governance cadence with vendors in line with CoRe Procurement and CBS Vendor Management model to ensure continuous review and management of performance and commercials
  • Continuously drive and identify opportunities for improvements in service efficiency, cost-effectiveness and customer experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with confidence to quickly establish credible working relations and influence across diverse environments, including 3rd party and supplier management
  • Strong reporting and communication skills being able to effectively deliver messaging to various audiences and influence senior decision makers
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a newly formed team whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Strong vendor management skills - ability to manage third party performance and cost and set up suitable governance mechanisms where required
  • Commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets
  • Subject matter expertise in sickness and absence management with experience of leading a team and outsourced model to deliver process excellence and ROI from proactive absence management.
  • Experience of building effective relationships with vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive service delivery at a highperforming, successful level against multiple SLAs
  • Experience of working in a Partnership or professional services environment desirable
