The role will be the initial point of contact for employees, managers and external stake holders for general enquiries on HR policies, procedures and best practice. As well as being responsible for the HR Administrator, ensuring HR records and the HR system are kept up to date and in line with regulatory requirements i.e. CQC, GDPR etc

Description

The key responsibilities for the HR/ People Advisor in Hampton will be:

  • Responsible for managing the HR administration function across the employee life cycle
  • Being the first point of contact for providing accurate guidance and advice on routine queries relating to terms and conditions, employee relations issues and HR policies and procedures, escalating to the HR Business Partner as required.
  • Providing guidance & advice to employees on queries in relation to their employment, including pay, benefits, conditions of service and to advise on their maternity, paternity and adoption rights.
  • Collaborating with the Director of People and Culture and HR Business Partner to develop and implement new ideas in relation to the management of the Hospices policies and HR services. Employee Life Cycle
  • Driving the recruitment process beginning with obtaining approval to recruit, agreeing on the most appropriate channels for advertising within budget and in conjunction with the HR Business Partner advising on salary bandings and pay ranges.
  • Supporting managers by offering advice and practical assistance to ensure full compliance with equal opportunities and associated employment legislation in all steps of the recruitment process
  • Negotiating with third party recruiters (agencies and websites), using negotiation skills to ensure optimum terms are agreed
  • Being the HR lead for continuously developing, reviewing and refreshing the digital content for online job pages on the website, LinkedIn etc working in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing team
  • Advising and overseeing the HR Administrator in the administration of the recruitment process and ensuring other resource such as honorary contracts and student placements are processed correctly including safeguarding checks
  • Taking an active role on interview panels for roles below manager level and advising hiring managers on recruitment processes in line with legal and best practice
  • Delivering the local HR induction session for all new employees and supporting with organising and delivering the Organisation Induction.
  • Advising line managers on the probation period and supporting on any performance concerns by advising on procedure and attending review meetings in line with policy
  • Conducting, monitoring and evaluating exit interviews, making recommendations to the HR Business Partner as appropriate
  • Supporting on delivery of Learning and Development, Talent Management and Succession Planning initiatives as appropriate
  • Pro-actively working towards improving recruitment processes and communication in order to improve the effectiveness of the candidate experience and service to managers, employees and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and reporting to line managers and the HR Team on short-term sickness absence and working with line managers to maintain low sickness absence. As well as working with line managers on long term sickness cases, in line with the absence policy, to resolve cases in the most appropriate and timely manner.
  • Advising line managers and co-ordinating with the Occupational Health provider to manage absence and ensure employees' mental and physical wellbeing is suitably supported throughout their employee cycle
  • Liaising with Occupational Health to arrange annual onsite vaccination clinics, ensuring they are fully utilised and any follow up appointments arranged

Profile

The successful HR/ People Advisor in Hampton will have:

  • Educated to A level standard as a minimum, or equivalent
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified/part qualified (or equivalent career experience)
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Previous experience within a similar HR generalist role, advising and supporting line managers on employment law, HR policy and procedures
  • Experience of using an HR database and being an HR system super user, ideally Iris Cascade
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting managers with recruitment and onboarding
  • Experience of prioritising workload, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation and the practical application of this in a working environment.
  • Experience of employee case management e.g. disciplinary
  • Line management experience
  • Operated in a multi-site HR role
  • Experience of working in a charitable/not-for-profit and/or health sector
  • Confident in communicating verbally and in writing with diverse client group, good attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of employment law with the ability to interpret legislation alongside SSCH policy and procedure

Job Offer

On offer for the successful candidate:

  • Salary up to £30,000
  • 37.5 hours per week (ideally full time but would consider 30 hours per week)
