Interim People Services Advisor


Your new company


This 12 month fixed term contract has arisen to support a large public service client to cover a maternity leave within the people team. You will be required to support the work of the People Team in the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and high quality administrative and advice service by providing a link between the department and key customers in Faculties, Schools and Services. To deputise for the People Operations Team Leader as required. This role will be operating on a full time basis but with true flexible working and the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week.


Your new role

Support the provision of a comprehensive People Operations service giving advice and guidance on a wide range of issues.
Build strong relationships with key staff across the University to assist in the development of HR Practice contributing to raising standards and improving quality of service.
Facilitate the recruitment and selection process, providing advice to recruiting managers, acting as a key contact to support maintenance of the Resourcing Portal and participating in selection interviews as required.
Keep professionally updated with regard to legislation, HR practices, University and HE issues, briefing managers and staff where appropriate to ensure compliance with statutory and University requirements.
Play a role in supporting the Reward and People Operations Manager and People Operations Delivery Manager to deliver the People Team Strategy with regards to systems and processes, participating in any specific projects as required.
Support the People Operations Team Leader in the allocation and monitoring of the work of colleagues within the People Operations team, deputising for the Team Leader where appropriate.
Interpret statistical information and compile reports and other documentation as required.
Support job evaluation and grading, reviewing roles and job descriptions using the Higher Education Role Analysis job evaluation system as well as monitoring the HERA mailbox and allocating work tasks.
Assist with ad-hoc worker queries and the ad-hoc worker management system.
Provide constructive, pro-active and professional advice and guidance in relation to immigration issues, DBS clearance and any other external compliance requirements, ensuring that processes and procedures are reflective of the relevant legislation.

Experience of advising managers on a wide range of HR issues
Experience of working in sensitive and confidential situations
Experience of building strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
