As the ER Advisor for our client in Slough, you will work with line managers to proactively manage all employee issues such as performance, grievances, conduct and capability including long term sickness engaging with external legal partners as appropriate. You will be able to evidence strong ER capability and experience to date. This role offers hybrid working - 2 days per week in the office in Slough.

Description

As the ER Advisor for this company in Slough, you will be working in partnership with managers to provide a
commercially focused People Advisory/Employee Relations Service which drives employee engagement, development, productivity and retention, whilst managing employment risks. This will include:

  • Work with line managers to proactively manage all employee issues such as performance, grievances, conduct and capability including long term sickness engaging with external legal partners as appropriate.
  • Support the Senior People Partners to manage the people aspects of organisational change e.g restructures and TUPE activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in relation to right to work, immigration and visas in conjunction with our external legal advisers.
  • Contribute to the review and development of People policies and procedures in accordance with the employment law framework and support the implementation process across the business.
  • Promote and live by our values and behaviours to successfully achieve our mission and growth ambitions for the business.

The majority of the ER work sits in the realms of performance management, absence management, managing health concerns, mental health, and grievances.

KPIs & SLAs

  • Timely analysis & effective management of KPI's aligned to our business goals e.g. misconduct, under-performance, short and long-term absence, exit interviews

Key Working Relationships

  • Line Managers, Heads of Department and People Team

This role offers hybrid working - you will be required to be in the office in Slough 2 days per week.

Your Experience

  • Significant experience of handling employee relations cases through to ET, in a performance driven environment.
  • Ability to identify wider employment related issues at an operational level and share information through reporting to enable wider People Team to work on a range of business focused solutions.
  • Ability to pro-actively ensure line managers take responsibility for outcomes consistently and remain results focused.
  • Experience of working across different business areas and managing multiple stakeholders.

Your Knowledge

  • Up to date employment law knowledge and ability to translate legislation operationally.
  • Sound understanding of how equality and diversity is applied in the workplace.
  • Good understanding of mental health awareness and how it impacts behaviours.

Skills & Abilities

  • Must be comfortable working at speed and with urgency, whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage risks whilst using pragmatic problem-solving skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and coaching skills.
  • Confident, clear communicator coupled with clear, succinct written communication.
  • Logical thinking style with a methodical approach to dealing with casework.
  • Collaborative and flexible style with the ability to adapt approach in line with changing business needs and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to collate and interpret data using Excel whilst understanding the benefits and principles of using KPI's to highlight problems and opportunities for improved service delivery.

Your Qualifications

  • Degree in Business or Psychology preferred (or similar).
  • Achieved or actively working towards CIPD Chartered Membership (MCIPD).
  • Approved Mental Health First Aider qualification.
  • Proficient with IT including MS office applications and using an HR system.

This role offers hybrid working - you will be required to be in the office in Slough 2 days per week.
