Your new company

Hays Human Resources is proud to be working in partnership with Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies (BCH) who have an exciting opportunity and are now looking to appoint an experienced HR Professional to take a lead role as Recruitment and Attraction Manager in their People Development team. This is a flexible hybrid role including travel to a Stevenage Hub where the Recruitment team are based.

Your new role

This role is key to developing and delivering against the Tri Force Recruitment Attraction and Retention Strategies to meet force level resourcing priorities and to ensure the right people with the right skills are in place to deliver force plans. Reporting to the Head of People Development, the Recruitment and Attraction Manager will be working alongside the business and HR leaders, to deliver the workforce plan recruitment requirements for Police Officers and ensure right recruitment plans are in place to fulfil the forecasted staff vacancies needs. They will focus on developing a high-performance recruitment team that delivers against competing pressures of volumes of recruitment and time to hire timeframes, whilst not losing sight of the candidate experience and a focus on employer branding as a career in policing. As a strategic lead for recruitment and attraction, they will be tasked to drive change and improvement in recruitment practices. They will have to be able to work strategically but with a hands-on approach to stay close to delivery and building the capability of the team. Their success will be reflected in a trusted partnership between the business and the recruitment team, working together to continuously improve recruitment practices and innovation in the way BCH attracts and recruits encouraging greater diversity of applicants into a Policing career. As a senior HR Manager the individual will work across multiple projects with touch points into various HR disciplines influencing wider attraction and retention strategies such as Reward and Talent with other HR Manager colleagues.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you will have real excitement and enthusiasm for change and will want to make a measurable difference to the organisation. You will be qualified with the Level 7 Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or have equivalent experience. It is critical for you to be able to demonstrate your experience of leading and developing a high performing team as well as evidence of service improvement, performance management and consistent service delivery. Excellent project planning skills to implement and deliver recruitment and attraction campaigns from scratch and a proven track record in successful recruitment hiring outcomes on a large volume scale as well as developing an employer brand would be desirable. However, the ability to build strong working relationships, manage stakeholders and influence at all levels is key and transferable HR skills operating in generalist HR roles at a senior level will be considered.

What you'll get in return

The expectation for this role is to work at the Stevenage office where the recruitment team is based on a hybrid basis where flexibility around diary management could be offered. In return BCH are offering a competitive salary and benefits package, good career development and a genuine opportunity to help make a real difference to your local community.
