Overview

This is a pivotal role in our People & Culture team. As Assistant Director P&C, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and highly effective performance of the Department in line with the Dorchester Collection values.

This is an exciting HR generalist role which combines responsibilities in managing the day to day activities relating to recruitment and selection, employee engagement and communication, coaching and succession planning, employee relations handling and performance management.

You will be passionate about people and a highly motivated self starter with the ability to build relationships and impact and influence across the business.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

General

  • Assisting with the operational execution of the P&C & internal communications policy & systems to maximize organizational flexibility, build talent, capability & capacity to enhance Coworth Park and DC brands & ensure short & long term business success
  • Provide a highly effective support to all departments including; recruitment and selection, performance management, employee relations, payroll, reward and recognition and engagement
  • Develop and govern P&C policies and procedures in line with UK employment law updates
  • Support the People and Culture Team with administration
  • Assist with the management of the staff accommodation facility with third party service provider
  • Assist with and monitoring and reviewing the hotel’s budgeted headcount and making recommendations for review when required
  • Assist in developing a strong team culture which supports high levels of guest centricity, effective communication and knowledge sharing
  • Maintain accurate personnel records in a confidential and secure location in accordance with Data Protection and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure full compliance with all legislative and company standards of practice and ensure a comprehensive audit and spot checking process is in place
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of best practice in and suggest initiatives and schemes to enhance the employee experience journey
  • Deputise and run the P&C department in the absence of the DPC
  • Identify future trends in HR & employment area, including regulations & legislations
  • Close collaboration and daily updates to the Director and General Manager

Recruitment

  • ·Work closely with all Teams to ensure a highly effective and timely recruitment process is in place and executed
  • ·Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management
  • Have direct responsibility for recruiting and interviewing line level and senior positions
  • ·Work with the P&C team to help oversee the implementation of Hotel wide recruitment within all departments to reduce the time a position is open

Employee Relations

  • Manage all ER related matters with HOD’s and Execs
  • Handle all ER related matters and seek advice when required, ensuring company policy and best practice is adopted and matters are communicated to the DPC
  • Trouble shoot & provide guidance to all managers to manage complex performance & disciplinary and grievance issues  ensuring own legal knowledge is kept up-to-date

Payroll

  • · Manage payroll and labour costs and ensure flexibility is achieved within the payroll structure as appropriate and produce all salary and change of contract letters

Learning & Development

  • · Manage the reward and recognition programmes, ensuring systems are in place for timely and well organised events or communications including; Celebration calendar, Most Valuable Player, Annual award programmes and Long Service recognition

Qualifications and Desirables

  • Previous experience in leading a team
  • In depth experience and knowledge of Employee Relations
  • Experience within the luxury hospitality or hotel sector would be highly desirable for this role
  • Qualified or working towards a CIPD Qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous but not compulsory
  • Experience of systems such as Core HR, Talent Soft, Docusign etc
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable presenting and engaging executive teams and senior management where required
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload 
  • Advanced level of Microsoft to include PowerPoint and Excel
  • Immaculate presentation

  • Proven ability to build internal relationships
