Human Resources

Cardiff or London

£33,261 per annum

Fixed Term Contract/Secondment until end of December 2023

Ref: RCN01840

There is more to the RCN than you might think. We’re a trade union with a membership of close to half a million nurses, midwives, nursing support workers and students. We support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them. We exist to make a positive difference to the working lives of our members and ultimately to standards in patient care.

We're accredited with Investors in People Gold Standard. Our people are our greatest asset, and we want people who can contribute to our purpose in line with our values.

The purpose of the People and Organisational Development team is to enable the RCN to succeed through its people. Only through our talented and dedicated people can we deliver the high-quality products and services that keep our members and other customers with us and attract new ones every day.

As one of our Resourcing Advisers, you’ll support the delivery of a comprehensive end to end recruitment service to support the RCN’s strategic aims and objectives. This is a new additional role within our People Resourcing team to support the increasing resourcing needs across the organisation.

It's a job full of possibilities as you could get involved in anything from providing advice and support on resourcing initiatives and processes, to undertaking resourcing related project.

You will be the first point of contact for recruitment activity across the RCN, including liaising with job seekers, applicants, recruiting managers, and external stakeholders, providing advice on all aspects of the process including media and the selection process. You’ll take responsibility for delivering a comprehensive, high quality recruitment service to managers and staff, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Providing a proactive and comprehensive people resourcing service to managers and staff is key to this role, particularly in the provision of providing solutions-focused advice and guidance to managers across the breadth of resourcing activity work.

You’ll need knowledge of recruitment processes, policies and legislation and experience of providing recruitment advice and guidance.

You’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to plan and prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met under pressure.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after your customers and we expect you to be rewarded for it. Our pay is highly competitive with annual leave up to 32 days plus bank holidays. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme.

Balancing work and life commitments is important to us as an organisation. We are a diverse organisation and understand everyone has different needs. Many of our employees enjoy flexible working enabling them to deliver results whilst having a good work life balance. We offer generous maternity, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave packages.

As a result of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of our staff have been working from home. As this ends, we’ll be trialling blended office and home working to empower our people to do their best work by enabling them to balance the demands of work and home.

Our selection process

Please submit a supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the criteria for this role. You may not be shortlisted if you don’t.

We want your experience applying for a job with us to be the best it can be. We’re having to be more flexible about how we hold interviews and assessments, most of which are held by video call. If you foresee any problems with accessing a computer, webcam, or internet connection for this, please do let us know in your supporting statement.
