The HR Manager will lead a small team of HR professionals to ensure the development and delivery of the site HR strategy, as well as providing operational support on all people-related matters in line with business priorities and objectives.

The HR Manager will work as part of the SMT and will provide insight into key people metrics and identify ways of enhancing employee engagement.

Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Implement a robust and relevant HR strategy to support the overall business needs and priorities
  • Provide a proactive HR service across the site, leading on all ER matters
  • Ensure all employee relations matters - disciplinary hearings, grievances, absence and capability issues - are handled promptly and in line with employment legislation
  • Deliver an effective recruitment strategy and drive processes from start to end for all areas of the business, including onboarding
  • Develop a reward system that will attract, retain and motivate employees and drive continuous improvement
  • Review, develop and implement people policies to drive continuous improvements
  • Establish an effective internal communications strategy, to improve levels of employee engagement
  • Coordinate all transactional HR processes and procedures
  • Oversee the Payroll function, including supervising the work of existing payroll team members, conducting audits, and refining processes and procedures
  • Support and coach the SMT to ensure to ensure robust resourcing plans are in place and talent pipelines reflect the needs of the business
  • Work with recruitment agencies to deliver the temporary workforce to meet operational requirements
  • Deliver new remuneration and reward policies, including salary benchmarking, and pension and benefits management
  • Manage relationships with unions
  • Coordinate employee training and development programmes
  • Coach and advise line managers on all people-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with employment law

Profile

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources Management - e.g. CIPD
  • Solid generalist experience in a Management or 'Head of' position within HR
  • Previous experience working in a Manufacturing/ Industry setting is essential
  • Extensive HR experience
  • Strategic and hands on experience of HR policies and ER processes
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employee legislation
  • Experience of driving HR initiatives in a fast-paced environment
  • A track record of leading and developing a team of HR professionals within a dynamic and commercial environment
  • Experience of working with Unions
  • Strong leadership and influencing capabilities
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent organisational skills
