Description

The role of Talent Development Partner will be dedicated internal resource to support the business and enhance overall business and individual performance, career growth and to help facilitate people change. The role will design and conduct manager and career coaching / mentoring interventions, undertake talent assessments and develop relevant L&D programmes within the group companies.

This role will also be responsible for managing L&D co-ordination of programmes, compliance training, ISO compliance, L&D data and reporting through the L&D Coordinator.

This role will work closely with the local HR team and business line managers to provide specialist support and report directly to the Global Head of Leadership, Coaching and Development. This is a customer facing role and will require travel to Thame, Sowerby Bridge Yorkshire, and Newcastle.

  • Training needs analysis and L&D advice - to support with specialist advice around training needs and the linking of L&D activities to support skills gaps and career growth.
  • Manager coaching - to coach managers on how to have effective performance and development conversations.
  • Management development - the delivery of targeted management and team leader training using tools and materials from the Franklin Covey All Access Pass solution.
  • Team level restructuring - supporting with the planning phase of minor team restructures with a focus on skills and development.
  • Talent assessment and promotion advice - supporting with promotion advice with a focus on skills and development.
  • Change management - supporting with change management advice with a focus on skills and development.
  • Knowledge transfer - working with the business to identify knowledge shortages and gaps and build a plan for knowledge transfer.
  • Graduate/Apprenticeship mentoring - to support managers training, advice and guidance on mentoring Apprentices and Graduates.
  • Apprentice contact - to support Apprentices with regular check ins to check progress on learning and general welfare providing help, advice and guidance where needed.
  • Recruitment - to support the candidate screening process with personality type profiling and skills assessments.
  • Direct management of the L&D Coordinator.

This role offers hybrid working; depending upon restrictions, some weekly presence in the office in central Oxford is required.

Profile

To apply for the role of Talent Development Partner, your profile will closely match the following:

  • You will ideally have worked in a large matrix organisation (manufacturing and engineering would be an advantage).

  • Solid background in L&D management - good track record at mid-level management in L&D (L&D manager or equivalent) - and ideally will have experience in managing a team with a particular focus on creating skills for job roles (using the Hay methodology or similar would be an advantage) and assessing them using a HRIS system (Oracle would be an advantage).
  • Experience in conducting a training needs analysis at organisational level and at individual level to draw on the data to identify skills gaps to design L&D solutions.
  • Has exceptional communication and stakeholder relationship skills, gets out and about in the business to help embed L&D and help facilitate a culture of learning.
  • CIPD Level 5 or above in L&D
  • Detail orientated, can demonstrate analytical capability and be able to manage the detailed work of others
  • A deep understanding of how to conduct a training needs analysis using data from a HRIS system
  • Has been involved in the creation of skills
  • Can engage with and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Solid experience in designing and delivering the following programmes:
    • Apprenticeships and early careers
    • Graduate
    • Mentoring
  • A deep understanding and solid experience in helping managers and employees create development plans
  • Experience in organisational design and development, from a skills and L&D perspective. Ensuring that people are in the right roles with the right skills and have development plans in place to aid with career progression
  • Experience and understanding of talent management tools and processes such as 9 box grid, performance management and succession planning
  • Understands and can help the organisation in creating a culture of learning

Key advantages:

  • Has implemented a large-scale skills assessment project using Oracle or similar HRIS system to track competence levels
  • Has worked with and understands Korn Ferry (Hay grading) Talent Hub or similar. Building success profiles and linking skills to them

This role offers hybrid working; weekly presence in the office in central Oxford is required.
