A very exciting new role has become available for our media client based in Woking for a Group HR Learning & Development Specialist to join their team in this newly created hybrid role.

The role of the Group HR Learning & Development Specialist is to align learning and development with the HR Strategy, Group Business Plan, vision and values. To identify skill and competency gaps to raise capability and shape the HR learning and development offer to the business. As a project, you will develop a career path framework that includes the establishment of the talent pipeline and associated activities e.g., secondments, emerging leaders etc.

Key responsibilities:

  • Implement an annual learning and development plan, producing a clear timetable of programs to be delivered across the year
  • Manage a training and development budget
  • Liaise with the Associate HR Director to produce a capability and performance management framework and toolkit for managers. To be reviewed ongoing and in line with business requirements Build key relationships to influence multiple stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support of the L&D plan
  • Carry out a priority training needs analysis (TNA) across the Group, asking for input from the Senior team and linking in with opportunities identified through the Staff Satisfaction Survey and Performance Management System
  • Ensure all solutions have an identified purpose and a clear return on investment. Line managers should challenge and support their teams to implement their learnings within their own departments and monitor individual growth through the performance management platform
  • In conjunction with the HR Administrator and VHRBP, deliver; Induction, pre-course activities, training track and content, and post training evaluation, identifying where improvements can be made of if further training opportunities have been identified
  • Link all learning and development opportunities to the performance management system, being an ambassador of the platform
  • Link in with the recruitment plan, ensuring induction plans are thorough and a sound introduction to the business, setting people up for success
  • Build and develop a career path project, focusing on key areas where there is a demand for talent. Influence key stakeholders on 'grow your own talent'
  • In conjunction with the Associate HR Director, link the career path project with succession planning
  • In conjunction with the Group HR Operations Manager, recommend and source learning and development provision, both internal and external
  • Support the wider HR team with employee relation matters and recruitment, including the iTrent recruitment project.


Experience & skills required:

  • CIPD Level 5 Diploma or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Demonstrable L&D experience Demonstrable collaboration and influencing skills and ability to work under pressure
  • A completer finisher mindset, a passion for making things work with strong attention to detail
