We’re looking for a seasoned HRBP with a proven background in leading teams delivering compassionate HR support at scale.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You’ll lead our passionate and driven team of HRBPs and Assistant HR Business Partners to deliver commercially astute advice to our managers, helping them to support our staff and enable our services to run efficiently and effectively. You’ll live and breathe our values, working with your immediate team and wider leaders within the organisation to enable our patients to receive fantastic care across the range of services we provide.  We’re seeking a talented and bright individual with a particular focus on continuous improvement who has the ability to build credible, trusted relationships at all levels of the organisation and to influence key strategic decisions.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOU’LL DO

This is a busy and varied role that offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the performance of our hospital; the support our staff receive has a direct impact on the quality of care delivered.  You will be responsible for:

  • Leading our HR Business Partnering team to deliver creative, pragmatic support and guidance to the organisation
  • Providing strategic HR advice and support to senior leaders
  • Ensuring our people related polices are fair, inclusive, reasoned and commercially sound
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to understand their workforce requirements, short, medium and long-term
  • Innovation – reviewing opportunities to improve our HR services
  • Working collaboratively with the OD team to define and implement key strategic projects across our organisation
  • Contributing to key programmes of people related work across the Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB system

You’ll have experience of leading a high-performing HR team and can demonstrate the ability to build a happy and empowered team to deliver efficient and customer focused services. You will be familiar with NHS processes and policies and will be skilled in getting optimal results within these.

To do this you’ll need to: have or be a:

  • Excellent leadership skills with proven experience in building and leading high performing HR teams
  • Experience of operating as a trusted advisor to board level executives
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into action
  • Experience of workforce planning within a large matrix organisation
  • Demonstrate experience in improving employee engagement and creating a high performing culture
  • Ability to mobilise a team to deliver multiple strategic and high profile initiatives
  • Demonstrate a proactive and forward-thinking attitude with the ability to spot future challenges and take appropriate action
  • Be MCIPD qualified

It is important that you understand that finances in the NHS are tight. The successful candidate will know how to deliver fantastic results on a limited budget, through creatively engaging with our employees and community. You’ll have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to influence and inspire stakeholders to embrace new ways of thinking, allied to the capacity to deliver results.

PERSON SPECIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING REQUIRED ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Degree of equivalent qualification / level of experience
  • Further post graduate professional qualification (e.g. CIPD Level 7 or equivalent qualification) or able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience across a range of highly specialist HR topics
  • MCIPD

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • FCIPD
  • Formal management qualification
  • Trained in psychometric tests / development tools

PREVIOUS OR RELEVANT EXPERIENCE NECESSARY ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Senior Human Resources management and significant experience at a senior HR level, with evidence of building and leading high performing teams
  • Demonstrable problem-solving skills in large, complex environments
  • Experience of building effective teams throughout an organisation
  • People management experience in leading a team
  • Defined, designed and implemented organisational change programmes, leadership and talent management development initiatives, and people strategies including performance management
  • Expert knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
