Client Details

We are delighted to be retained by a rural, agricultural business in the idyllic North Yorkshire Moors to recruit a new Head of People & Development role. The Leadership team are incredibly passionate about people and are eager to bring a HR Leader into the business who wants to add real value and guide them on a change journey.

The client are a privately owned business, diversified and grown organically within the agricultural sector. As they enter a new phrase of growth they will be looking at acquisition opportunities. Based in the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, they are surrounded by North Yorkshire villages of Thirsk, Malton, Helmsey and Pickering but commuting from York would also be doable as they hope this role will be on site 3 days a week.

Description

Head of People & Development:

The Head of People & Development will design and deliver a People strategy that supports the vision and key pillars of the business. Covering the full spectrum of generalist activities but with a focus on Talent, engagement and OD.

  • Talent: Devise a talent attraction strategy, employer brand and process that will secure and develop talent.
  • Design and implement career pathways and succession opportunities across the business to drive retention.
  • Review Reward offering, making recommendations on cost effective benefit solutions that will support recruitment and retention.
  • Implement a program for recognising success that is fit for purpose.
  • Develop a partnership model with local colleges and communities to promote both CSR and employer brand.
  • Examine employee attrition to come up with initiatives designed to drive better retention
  • Systems review to better use HR data and metrics.
  • Internal Communications: Implement improvements across engagement and internal communications activities including but not limited to delivering a new employee engagement survey and follow up activities.
  • Management Development - Design and deliver a robust upskilling program to drive leadership skills.
  • Review current approach to performance management, working with the management team to create a high performance culture.
  • Support the Senior leadership team in growth planning, both organic and future acquisitions. This will include due diligence and integration programs

Profile

The ideal candidate for the Head of People & Development will have/be:

* Strong influencing and leadership skills
* Effective communication and the ability to engage employees at all levels of the business.
* A Change agent, someone who can identify improvements and take other people on the journey to achieving.
* Commercially focused with the ability to showcase how effective People Development can improve the business performance.
* A practical, hands-on approach.
* Similar HR and Development experience in a high growth manufacturing (or similar) environment
* Qualified CIPD Level 7 or qualified through experience
* Experience of leading a team and delivering change
* Demonstrable examples of designing and delivering on People and Development Strategies

Ideally you will have a passion for rural and agricultural industries as this is the heart of what the organisation do.

Job Offer

The business are offering a competitive salary £60,000-£65,000 DOE
