This brand new Head of HR role is intended to provide leadership and support for all human resource and payroll activity across the Trust. You will drive the people management strategy and manage the small HR team and ensure procedures and processes are reviewed, improved and efficiently implemented.

Description

The newly created Head of HR role will be responsible for:

  • Develop and implement HR and Payroll strategy and initiatives in line with the Trust's business plan and ensure HR plans support both the needs of the Trust and meet the changing requirements of the organisation as it grows.
  • Manage a small HR and Payroll team.
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team and the Trust Board in every aspect of HR and Payroll by providing effective and lawful advice in relation to employees of the Trust.
  • Support the Headteachers to ensure the continued professional development of the organisation's staff by managing the learning and development strategies.
  • In line with employment legislation, lead and implement any change management, which includes but is not limited to all redundancies, restructures and TUPE processes.
  • Advise and support the Trust's equal opportunities objectives in line with the HR policies and the development of the equality and diversity strategy.
  • Support and advise the senior leaders to manage and develop further the pay and reward schemes that currently exist within the organisation.
  • Maintain and develop the Trust's relationship with the recognised Trade Unions to ensure a collaborative working relationship.
  • Develop and maintain the full range of HR policies and procedures required for the Trust.
  • Provide strategic direction, support and advice in relation to the day to day HR and Payroll function of the Trust, this includes, but is not limited to, employee relations, employee wellbeing, resourcing, pay and reward, terms and conditions, planning, monitoring, appraising, reviewing staff performance and any absence management issues.
  • Support and advise the Trust's senior leaders with the effective implementation of Trust wide HR policies and procedures and ensure that they are up to date and legally compliant.
  • Lead and maintain procedures to ensure that all academies have appropriate HR processes to meet safeguarding of children legislation and that best practice is adhered to at all time
  • Be responsible for the creation and maintenance via each school, of single central records that meet the required OFSTED standards of which all academies combined will meet the needs of the Trust.
  • Manage effective and efficient recruitment and selection processes to ensure the selection of the best possible staff for all roles across the Trust.
  • Produce management reports as required and undertake statistical analysis to accurately assess the current working practices of the Trust aiming to improve efficiency.
  • Build up effective and collaborative relationships with all of the academy schools and leadership teams.

Profile

To be successful in this role of Head of HR you will be/have:

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent, level 5 as a minimum
  • Previous team management experience
  • Good rounded generalist HR and payroll management experience
  • Ideally experience in the education sector or similar
  • Clear DBS check
