Job Details


Accountable to the CEO and the HR Board Committee for ensuring that a professional approach to Human Resources is maintained at all times. Responsible for developing strategic solutions to employment-related matters; also responsible from operational side by overseeing administration of the HR systems, handling employee relations, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing budgets, developing compensation plans and designing training programs.

HR Management

  • Ensure the smooth management of all aspects of human resources, both operationally and strategically
  • Provide a professional HR Service to support our staff and our leadership team in the UK, India and Africa
  • Work across the structure, locations and cultures to ensure compliance in HR policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with legal developments and advise management on compliance & risk factors
  • Provide advice and guidance on individual employee relation cases, ensuring that these are well managed and meet the requirements of company policies, best practice and local legislation
  • Ensure all HR finance-related tasks are executed & reconciled in a timely manner
  • Ensure staff records and all related data are maintained efficiently, effectively, and confidentially
  • Oversee the administration of all HR systems, especially the HR Information System

Resourcing

  • Lead, in conjunction with the function head, all aspects of staff recruitment
  • Ensure the organisation is appropriately staffed with adequate succession plans
  • Evaluate new or evolving positions
  • Manage organisational equality and diversity
  • Ensure staff job descriptions are current, consistent and aligned to the needs of the organisation

Compensation and Benefits

  • Manage the annual performance management cycle and salary review process
  • Benchmark the levels of pay and benefits to ensure they are appropriate and competitive with similar international organisations.

Safeguarding Officer

  • Implement and maintain HR policies & procedures relating to safeguarding obligations
  • Maintain staff training and an accurate, confidential and up-to-date register on all cases of safeguarding

Data Protection Officer

  • Monitor internal compliance, inform and advise on the organisations data protection obligations through policies and privacy notices.

Health, Safety & Security Officer

  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation and ensure staff security

Employee Relations:

  • Manage any absence, disciplinary, appeal, grievance issues that may arise, within the relevant employment law provisions, seeking legal advice as necessary, and provide practical solutions
  • Develop and promote an appropriate culture, using employee surveys and staff focus groups.
  • Provide wellbeing policies and manage occupational health issues

Learning and Development:

  • Follow up development needs and source external training provision as and when required, monitoring training costs against budget

Governance

Support, and contribute to, the effective functioning of the Board HR Committee

Profile

  • HR professional - CIPD qualified
  • At least 4 years HR Management experience, ideally in an international not-for-profit organisation
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, interpersonal & presentation skills
  • Excellent organisational and negotiation skills
  • Cultural Sensitivity
  • This position requires limited international travel including to Africa and South Asia
