A leading Financial Services firm based in the City of London seeks an Interim Employee Relations Specialist to be part of the UK ER team consisting of a team of 7 including the UK Head of ER, 2 other specialists and 3 ER Advisors and the global ER function. In addition, you will be an integral part of the UK HR team, working closely with the wider HR UK team, specifically the HR COO, HRBPs and Regulatory Compensation.

Description

An Interim Employee Relations Specialist with the following Key Responsibilites:

  • You will support the Head of UK Employee Relations in influencing and driving the direction of the Employee Relations strategy across the UK. You will be responsible for successfully handling all disciplinary and grievance cases from front to end, ensuring that outcomes are fair, consistent and reflect the bank's risk appetite and applying expert drafting skills.
  • You will successfully partner with the Litigation, Employment Law, Compliance Investigations teams and/or external counsel to investigate complex investigations into conduct related matters and reportable concerns. Facilitate and contribute to discussions with control functions to ensure the right advice is provided and outcomes are achieved.
  • Managing complex and high-profile grievance and disciplinary cases ensuring they are professionally and efficiently managed and the risk to the bank is mitigated and that decisions reached are fair, consistent and in line with legal obligations and regulatory expectations
  • Support the Head of Employee Relations with senior manager notifications, monitoring and reporting of Employee Relations cases including senior management and regulatory notifications, Board packs etc.
  • Represent the Employee Relations team and the UK on ad-hoc regional and global projects and tasks as directed by the Head of ER / Global Head of ER, e.g. policy and process development, market practice reviews, internal reviews etc.
  • To provide advice to HRBPs on ER cases and mentor ER Advisors on complex cases and support them in communicating advice to the business and HRBPs.

Profile

An Interim Employee Relations Specialist with the following Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Significant United Kingdom ER experience, ideally gained within an ER role or as part of a broader HRBP role within a multinational complex organisation.
  • Significant experience of autonomously managing complex investigations, disciplinary and grievance cases.
  • Proven understanding of UK employment law and regulatory frameworks (exposure to, and a full appreciation of, the regulatory environment and the regulator's expectations in the context of employee conduct / disciplinary matters).
  • Strong communication skills, notably the ability to draft reports and outcome letters and the ability to influence and challenge. Strong organisation and attention to detail.
  • The ability to partner effectively with internal stakeholders including senior business individuals
