Training consultant

About us

We specialise in the design and delivery of bespoke, experiential development programmes for both private and public-sector organisations; we work across the UK and, occasionally, internationally.  Our programmes blend creative approaches including leadership challenges, working with professional actors, business simulations, psychometrics and a range of pragmatics models and theories.  Fundamentally our programmes develop the behavioural skills of individuals, this is done with a sharp focus on the application of these skills in the participants’ organisational context.

We are proud to be an employee-owned business with a clear focus on sustainability – not just for our work and impact for our clients, but in terms of our company and people too. Our company’s core values are: Care, Connection, Playful and Grounded.

Role summary

We have developed a strong brand built around ensuring that what we do makes a difference to individuals and our clients’ organisations.  In our team we value professionalism, clarity, integrity, flexibility and good humour.  We now have a vacancy for a Training Consultant to join our team.  We have a clear business strategy and are looking for someone who will help us achieve our goals and be an integral part of our business as it grows.

We are looking for someone who has energy, initiative, creativity and a desire to learn and develop; someone who combines a passion for learning and development with a healthy dose of pragmatism about translating learning into the real world. Importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to help us grow the business.  This is a challenging role with considerable variety and breadth of responsibility that will mean being able to deliver multiple priorities and deal with competing pulls on time.

As a training consultant it will mean working with clients from many different sectors and industries and with a wide range of participants; this will include senior leaders, front line managers, graduates, school leavers and technical experts.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Project and programme management Design and delivery of creative, experiential programmes Supporting our sales and marketing activities

Role specifics Core requirements with demonstrable experience: Facilitation (both online and face-to-face) of high quality, experiential training interventions, sometimes leading the facilitator team and sometimes being led; as such you will need the skills to co-facilitate effectively and be a strong, supportive team player.

Project management of a range of programmes with existing and new clients within Interaction which will involve: working closely with Interaction Client Managers, liaising with our clients to ensure that projects run smoothly and that programmes are delivered to a high level of quality and consistency; working closely with our project coordinators to ensure that the administration and logistics are in place; responsibility for the design and delivery of the training itself, along with briefing and managing the facilitator team.

Core requirements with scope for development (previous experience not essential): In line with our sales and marketing strategy you will support the full remit of sales and marketing activities, including LinkedIn activity, email marketing, website blogs, social media contributions, networking events, trade exhibitions, client meetings and presentations and writing proposals and tender submissions.

About you

You’ll be ready to join an organisation that you can become integral to, helping shape its future and sharing in its success.  Whilst you may not have extensive sales and marketing experience, you will need to be happy to develop the skill – with appropriate support.  We are a small business where everybody makes a difference; you’ll be a key part of our consultancy team.

You’ll have recent experience in large organisations within a learning and development department.  You’ll have designed and delivered training programmes in areas such as leadership/management development and personal skills and will be able to provide examples of your specific role within the development and delivery of these programmes.

You will have enthusiasm and energy to support all Interaction’s sales and marketing activities.  You will be focused in your approach, resilient in defeat and determined that your efforts will deliver results.

You will be a clear and confident communicator (particularly questioning and listening skills), with a commercial mindset and strong written communication skills.  You will have the ability to use your own initiative and be creative and innovative.  You will also need to be able to plan and organise your diary and prioritise your work to deliver the key elements of the role.

Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and adapt to our approach and methodology and the ability to work in a team will be essential.

You will be confident and comfortable around technology, working online and learning new virtual tools and platforms. You will have experience of Microsoft Teams.

Role requirements

Interaction L&D operates a flexible homeworking policy.  As such, you will be employed at our Bristol offices, but there will be the opportunity to be predominantly home-based, with travel for meetings etc.  You will also be required to work at client offices and training venues across the UK and internationally.

As such, we anticipate that the successful applicant will have a suitable home office environment and their own reliable vehicle.

You will need to hold a full driving license and be prepared to travel.  You will need to be prepared to be away from home regularly – usually for more than one night at a time in any given week.

Having accreditation in a psychometric such as MBTI® will be an advantage, although not essential.  Similarly, being (or working towards being) qualified with CIPD or another relevant L&D qualification will be useful.

What you’ll get

  • Working with our Directors and Consultants you’ll get support, guidance and development.  You’ll also get full administrative support from our team of project coordinators. Good working conditions, with hybrid working and access to offices in Bristol, currently near St Nicholas market for meetings.    A development plan to progress within the role and work towards a Senior Consultant role. Freedom to use initiative, creativity and make a difference within a growing, employee-owned business. Salary of up to £45k depending on experience, plus Employee Ownership and discretionary profit related bonus. 30 days holiday entitlement.
