Purpose of the role:

The People & Culture Officer will play an integral role in supporting the People & Culture Team by contributing across all of the phases of the employee lifecycle, including: onboarding, employee engagement, data and compliance, reporting, HR processes, performance management, etc.
The People and Culture Officer will work with and develop engaging and effective relationships with all internal colleagues, team members and external contacts. These strong, trust based relationships, along with your sound knowledge and ability of legislation and HR best practice, mean you are perfectly placed to provide first line HR advice and support to managers and staff on a full range of HR issues.
This is a great opportunity for someone with solid HR administration skills who is also experienced at providing first line support to managers on a wide range of employment issues. You will be managing a varied workload including end to end HR processes and providing coaching support and advice to our People and Culture Assistants.
You will work closely with and report into one of our People and Culture Managers, supporting them with more complex HR cases as well as all types of cross organisation projects.

What you can expect to be doing:

· Be a confident first point of contact for line managers and staff. Provide consistent HR advice and support in line with the charity's policies and legislation on a full range of HR issues. Escalating to the People and Culture Manager as necessary.
· Assist the recruitment manager in the delivery of the recruitment process; using safer recruitment techniques to provide a professional high quality recruitment service.
· Support employees and managers through all life-cycle stages of HR processes, policies, leave, internal HR systems, benefits, and other people-led programs.
· Co-ordinate and facilitate the charity's Induction Programme.
· Take responsibility for the pre-boarding, onboarding and offboarding processes, and ensure they are as smooth as possible.
· Manage employee lifecycle changes and subsequent data changes, accurately and timely.
· Oversee the monthly payroll process, ensuring correct data is recorded and relevant documentation collated.
· Ensure that the People and Culture team has live access to accurate data and reporting, that cyclical activities are supported by robust processes and information.
· Support the P&C Manager with Projects and employee relations cases, including and not limited to note taking, first stage advice and documentation preparation.
· Consistently review and update HR policies and procedures, working with the Head of People and Culture to identify priorities.
· Maintain up to date knowledge and practical application of UK employment law.
· Other duties that may from time to time be necessary, compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

Experience:

* Strong HR administrative experience across the full employee lifecycle, with excellent attention to detail
* Experience of providing first line support to managers and employees with HR queries and casework
* Experience of working flexibly and creatively to manage and prioritise a busy an varied workload.
