The People Business Partner will be responsible for working in partnership with leaders, key stakeholders and colleagues to shape, develop and deliver HR People Plans and formulate solutions in line with the needs and priorities of the organisation

Description

Reporting into the Head of People, the role of People Partner sits within the wider People Team. There is also one direct report.

The People Partner will operate as the departmental HR expert, to advise, guide and support colleagues and managers by providing efficient and effective people management and development support across your designated directorates.

The People Partner will implement efficient and effective processes, aligned to policies and procedures throughout the employee life cycle. They will ensure consistency in the application of policies and procedures, fostering a transparent and compliant approach to resourcing & onboarding, learning & development, employee relations and engagement throughout everything that they do.

The role responsibilities will include (but not limited to);

  • Partner with Exec Directors, managers and members of the People team to create and sustain positive employee relations programs and best practices designed to achieve engagement targets which are aligned to the organisational ER philosophy
  • Define, develop the existing arrangements for collective consultation through Colleague Voice and communication as required for the ongoing evolution of the business, and in compliance with UK Employment legislation and the ER policies
  • Partner closely with the business, to build strong relationships to understand, anticipate and respond to customer needs, ensuring all activities are aligned with the overall Strategic People Plans and meet business needs for compliance and value for money
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources including employee feedback mechanisms to identify trends and insight that can be used to inform business decision making to ensure positive employee relations
  • Provide specialist employee relations case management advisory and support services on complex cases, or where a case requires direct intervention. Identifying associated risks and working collaboratively with managers in making decisions, demonstrating organisational awareness, appropriate judgement, and balancing risks
  • In conjunction with leadership colleagues provide specialist support and advice in relation to organisational development and change projects, ensuring that any action plans minimise risk and cost whilst treating this impacted with respect
  • Coach line managers in the application of appropriate policies and procedures in the management of employee relations. Helping to develop management competence and confidence specifically in managing disciplinary, fair treatment, capability and performance related issues
  • Provide advice and support in relation to terms and conditions, contract queries and issues relating to pay and entitlements i.e. holiday leave,etc. Including the writing of guidance and the maintenance of appropriate IT and other systems

Profile

The ideal candidate will have/be;

  • Educated to degree level or CIPD professional qualification and membership - min Chartered member level and a willingness to complete CPD to get to member status / Chartered Fellow of CIPD
  • Broad experience in a generalist HR role
  • Solid understanding of UK employment laws and HR best practice
  • Experience in complex employee relations case
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, enabling individual to establish partnerships working with senior leaders and across organisational lines
