I am currently recruiting for an exciting HR Advisor position within the education sector- my client is seeking an individual who has a wealth of experience advising on various Employee relations cases.

This is a newly created and varied role, and the postholder will have the opportunity to develop their skills in all aspects of HR for the organisation. There will be a particular focus on managing disciplinary, capability and related matters, including providing advice to senior leaders, conducting formal investigations, and setting and monitoring targets. The role is for approximately 25 hours per week, spread flexibly across 5 days (more or fewer hours will be considered). The role is offered either 52 weeks per year or on a term-time only basis. The successful candidate will be joining a team of two, reporting into the HR Manager within the wider Trust team.

Job Purpose: To support the HR Manager in all aspects of Human Resources, taking the lead on disciplinary, capability and related issues and playing a hands-on role in the day-to-day operational running of the department

Responsibilities:

Oversee disciplinary, capability, grievance or redundancy matters

  • Meet with managers as required to provide advice on employee related issues, setting out options and outlining risk.
  • Act as investigating officer for formal investigations, or support and advise the investigating officer.
  • Draft necessary correspondence, set targets and provide support with target monitoring
  • Attend formal hearings and provide support and guidance to the Panel
  • Escalate complex issues to the HR Manager as required
  • Play an active role in the recruitment of Trust staff, including preparing job descriptions, placing adverts, arranging and supporting interviews as required
  • Provide general advice to staff at all levels on a range of HR matters including the operation of employment policies, line management, recruitment strategies, training
  • Support the maintenance of the HR Information System (CIPHR), updating information as required
  • With the support of the Office Manager, prepare induction plans for new joiners and support line managers in ensuring that these are completed
  • Assist with the annual review of employment policies and the Employment Manual

Requirements

  • Educated to graduate level or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience of supporting disciplinary, grievance and capability processes
  • Experience in advising managers on dealing with difficult situations and providing advice as appropriate
  • Experience in general HR administration and processes
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive

Benefits

  • Full time staff receive 30 days holiday, plus 5 days to be taken over the Christmas period, plus bank holidays. This will be pro rata for part-time staff.
  • Hours of work are 25 hours per week. We can be flexible as to how these hours are worked but they must be spread over 5 days. We are willing to consider applicants who wish to work 52 weeks per year, as well as those who wish to work term-time only/term-time plus.
