My client is currently recruiting for a HR Advisor to join the team on a permanent basis. This is a brilliant charity who are committed to establishing high standards of animal welfare at all times, ensuring the animals needs are consistently met.

Responsibilities

  • This role will have direct line management for the HR Administrator and Central Functions.
  • Provide a comprehensive, professional HR advisory service to support the Senior HR Business Partner, ensuring that a consistent and fair approach is taken across all departments in the UK.
  • Advising staff and managers on how to deal with HR issues, People policies and employment law.
  • Lead on advising line managers on managing flexible working and maternity/paternity/adoption leave ensuring consistent and fair processes are followed.
  • Lead on investigations/meetings and on grievance and disciplinary issues and meetings.
  • Monitor sickness levels ensuring that the sickness policy and process is applied as appropriate and supporting managers with sickness review meetings
  • Support Senior HR Business Partner and Central Functions on any change programmes or consultations taking place in business areas as well as general support and projects including policy updating/creation, examples of this are pay project, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.
  • Coach managers to fulfil their people management responsibilities, including casework.
  • Ensuring that high recruitment and selection standards are maintained: including but not limited to collaborating with managers on adverts and job descriptions, liaising with agencies as appropriate, placing adverts on intranet and in relevant channels, managing applications on Icims, arranging interviews and interviewing candidates where appropriate, attending career fayres, appointing candidates and working with HR administrator to arrange contracts.
  • Ensuring that all HR systems, processes and databases are kept up to date and providing necessary reports to team as needed.
  • Conducting job evaluations.
  • Organising recognition and celebratory events including the annual Long Service Awards
  • Supporting Senior HR Business Partner and Central Functions with any relevant HR training across business areas.
  • Supporting Senior HR Business Partner and Central Functions with managing relevant employee working groups such as our staff forum and taking minutes.
  • Monitoring exit questionnaires and conducting exit interviews.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate member or working towards CIPD or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a HR advisory experience, ideally in a complex organisation
  • Experience of managing complex employee relations casework
  • Experience of writing, developing and implementing policies, procedures and best practice guidelines
  • Excellent project management, research, analysis and planning experience
  • Experience of using HR and recruitment databases and other IT systems
  • Experience of working on organisational restructures

Knowledge

  • An understanding of current UK employment law and recent case law outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of employee relations processes and procedures
  • Familiar with recruitment best practice and related employment legislation
