The Role

As a Global Learning Manager you will be responsible for implementing key parts of our People & Culture Capability Strategy through global learning solutions that will enable Imperial Brands to deliver on its Purpose Vision and Strategy.

Reporting to the Global Head of Leadership and Learning, the role holder will lead, create and curate learning to deliver the capability needs of the global business, collaborating with colleagues from the Global Centre Of Expertise (COE) and People & Culture Business Partner teams to implement the best solutions. You will engage with stakeholders across our global sales, supply chain and functional areas to understand and clarify needs for learning so that you can lead on learning projects to deliver agreed appropriate, scalable and cost effective solutions. You will influence others to buy into a global learning and often digital approach.

You must have experience of leading learning strategies to deliver business results and be able to demonstrate how you bring this to life and communicate results that make a difference. Experience of working in a complex, global environment and having to deploy numerous influencing styles will be key to success.  This is NOT a “sit behind the desk” role, you have to be an ambassador for learning overall and bring a real passion and drive to changing the way learning is seen, consumed and discussed globally.

As Imperial Brands continues its transformation and culture change, this is a critical role and a great opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of learning delivering results and the desire to own, shape and promote a leading edge learning offering on a global scale.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of learning solution projects designed to increase business performance and culture change
  • Lead these large scale learning solutions ensuring the needs identification, design, development and deployment is completed effectively
  • Engage with People & Culture and business teams and external stakeholders to ensure that learning is fit for purpose, clearly aligned to business strategy and so our end consumer, and is seen as value adding to our internal learning customer
  • Make recommendations to senior leaders with clearly thought through benefits and risks that will ultimately support continued improvement in individual and business capability
  • Ensure global solutions are thoroughly tested and manage a smooth transition to efficient business as usual operations
  • Evaluate and communicate solutions, including stories and results to drive culture change
  • Utilise existing global learning portal, learning experience platform and linked HR technology to implement new solutions and drive continued improvements
  • Understand, curate and promote existing learning solutions
  • Provide strategic direction/consulting to the Global Learning Community and business as a whole on best practice learning solutions to meet the defined business goals
  • Proactively communicates with the Global Learning Community and wider People and Culture team in order for them to positively support and champion the changes required
  • Drive global communications campaigns to deliver learning plan goals
  • Manage any procurement negotiations/contracts for existing or new learning vendors in conjunction with Global Procurement as required

Education, Key Skills & Additional Information:

Essential

  • Track record of designing, implementing and continuous improvement of learning solutions
  • Proven project manager with relevant qualification (e.g. Prince, APMP)
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across a multitude of cultures and background
  • Commercially astute and able to determine the value of any given initiative to the business as a whole
  • Willingness to travel globally on a regular basis

 Desirable

  • FMCG background, but demonstration of successfully operating within and influencing complex organisations is of most use

Additional Information

From an operational perspective it is crucial that you have an understanding of how to create practical global solutions that are locally relevant and respectful of the differing environment, infrastructure and capability of our leadership and front line populations. You will need to work closely with Global Learning Community and wider People & Culture team, where you will be a Subject Matter Expert in actively driving global learning solutions across all Markets.  You will be required to highly competent in vendor management for Learning providers, leading the process from needs analysis and contracting through to selection of partners through the Preferred Supplier List process.

It will be your responsibility to create solid professional relationships with leaders at all levels across the business.  As a key part of the COE for Capability, Talent, Resourcing and Diversity Equity and Inclusion you will partner with these areas to align and drive our collective agenda. You will forge positive relationships collaborating with internal and external stakeholders; leading and motivating project teams through effective project management, coaching and mentoring in order to create a positive working environment. It is expected that you will be a skilled project manager, able to deliver to agreed time, cost and quality, with an agile approach to adapt as required. You will be an expert communicator, able to build engaging communications plans to deliver successful learning projects.
