ER Advisor - 6 Month FTC

Oakleaf is working with a leading Retail company who are looking to bring in an experienced ER advisor to come in and join their successful and collaborative team. They want you to have experienced being the first point of contact for a variety of stakeholders in business, dealing with all levels of ER from sickness and grievances to more complex cases.

The role is for an initial 6-month FTC basis with the view to go on longer. The role is paying between £45,000-£50,000

The company offer hybrid working with 2 days a week in the office + fantastic benefits

ER Advisor - 6 Month FTC - What you will be doing:

  • Support and coach line managers at all levels of the business, providing accurate and timely advice on all employee relations matters such as: disciplinary; grievance; capability (sickness and performance); and probation cases
  • Review ER letters and provide feedback to line managers on whether the content is clear, objective and legally compliant and manage this within the SLA timescales
  • Support and coach line managers on other ER policies and matters e.g. flexible working, family leave, holiday, working hours
  • Work collaboratively with other ERUK team members by sharing best practice and assisting with cases, as and when required
  • Accurately update ER trackers to agreed timescales
  • Review the accuracy of any variation to contract for managers, produced as an outcome of an ER case before they are issued e.g. transfer / demotion / restructure / flexible working
  • Support the ER Manager in providing timely and accurate responses to high profile employee relations queries
  • Support senior managers in dealing with high profile ER cases, risk assessing situations, giving accurate and timely advice; note taking; and support on letter writing
  • Liaise with external legal providers and key stakeholders in order to progress cases within required deadlines
  • Attend occasional employment tribunals to support the key witnesses and represent the business and use key learnings to improve the quality of future advice and limit business risk
  • Liaise with Acas in early conciliation matters and to resolve complaints
  • Be proactive in supporting the ER Manager in reviewing and amending all policies, procedures, templates, contracts and the handbook to reflect any legislation changes and / or best practice
  • Be proactive in supporting the ER Manager in effectively communicating any amendments to line managers, through the appropriate channels

ER Advisor - 6 Month FTC - What you need to be successful for the role:

  • Experience in Employee Relations in a fast moving, multi-site organisation; including practical experience in managing day to day ER cases and change management projects
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of employment law
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Ability to coach all levels of management on ER cases
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) and build relationships at all levels
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to prioritise and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate credibility within the organisation
  • Good team working skills
  • Excellent ICT skills
