Recruitment and Attraction Manager

  • Due to an internal promotion we are seeking a Recruitment & Attraction Manager
  • Working for the Bedfordshire, Cambridge and Herts Police Constabularies

The combined forces of the Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies and the second largest force in the UK outside of the Met, with over 10,000 in the force and an incredible support function working alongside them.

Job Description

  • Accountable for the delivery of an effective, flexible and highly skilled and professional Recruitment Service.
  • To monitor the performance of the team against service standards and assess performance against KPIs.
  • To ensure our recruitment delivers and meets the requirements set out in the Workforce Plan.
  • Identify what great service delivery looks like, areas for improvement, enhancing the candidate experience and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • To build good working relationships across the 3 forces, taking a future focused approach to recruitment needs and how these build organisational capability.
  • To manage and develop the team increasing their capability in attraction and recruitment practices and ensure this knowledge is retained as team members change over time.
  • To develop recruitment and attraction activity that increases the diversity of officers and staff joining us and to work with local force positive action teams to support meeting this objective.
  • To act as policy and procedure owner, leading development and design of attraction, recruitment and on-boarding
  • To develop BCH as an employer of choice, clear on what we offer and tailoring attraction strategies to deliver against this.
  • To develop an innovative approach to recruitment and attraction, developing a network that enables BCH to learn from best practice and develop our recruitment approaches.
  • To optimise team capability in identifying opportunity for improving processes and ways of working, optimising use of digital technology that results in a better end user experience.
  • Identify and develop competitive talent attraction solutions.
  • To work closely with workforce planning, operational learning, occupational health and estates to ensure resourcing needs can be accommodated.

The Successful Applicant

Entry Requirements

  • Level 7 Chartered/fellow member of CIPD or equivalent experience.

  • Experience of leading and developing a high performing team along with a track record of successful hiring outcomes.
  • Able to demonstrate experience of developing an employer brand.
  • Able to demonstrate building strong working relationships and influencing at all levels.
  • Experience in designing and delivering recruitment and attraction projects that have transformed recruitment activity with clear benefits to the organisation.
  • Experience of managing high volume / senior recruitment campaigns / assessment centres and re-deployment.

Important information:

  • As this role is working for the police force, all applicants will be subjected to detailed vetting, and there will be a requirement to disclose financial and medical information.
  • This vetting process will begin at offer stage and can take up to 3 months, so please do factor this into the recruitment process timescales, should you wish to apply.

  • This role requires the post holder to have the ability to travel to different locations across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire as part of their role
  • If using a private vehicle then business insurance needs to be organised by the individual
  • Vetting is required, as advised by the Vetting Unit
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake training as and when required
  • The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety requirements
  • Before commencement of this appointment, this role is subject to medical assessment. For some roles health screening or surveillance may be required on a regular basis, as identified by line manager risk assessments
