Job Description – People Services Officer

Your Role

As a People Services Officer you will support the organisation by providing HR expertise and support in relation to a wide range of HR issues and casework. The postholder will take a collaborative approach in actively coaching managers to ensure a pro-active, best practice approach to promote effective employee relations. The role will exemplify and promote the LHP culture, vision and values.

The role is defined as being flexible under our agile working policy, therefore you will be able to work from wherever is suitable to complete the task at hand. This might be at home, or in one of our offices located in Boston or Grimsby, or somewhere else!

Your Team

Your role sits within the Culture department. The Culture department consists of a People Services team, a Talent team, a Communications team and an Employee Experience & Engagement team. Within your role, you will work collaboratively across the department.

Your Manager

You will report directly to the People Services Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the wider Culture team, to ensure execution of tasks comes from Culture and not just People, and that People focussed initiatives are delivered collaboratively throughout the business Working in line with agreed practices as per the Process & Procedures Manual, ensuring correct documentation is being used. People Services Officer to have final compliance check of all paperwork/new email content produced by People Services Administrator Carrying out Business Partnering meetings with all managers and supervisors on an ongoing basis, to provide concise and proactive advice, ideas and solutions to any issues Coaching managers and employees through HR issues providing HR expertise, to encourage early resolution of problems Support and guide managers and investigating officers through all types of casework, to ensure the correct process is followed in order to minimise risk Assisting with policy and procedure updates, raising concerns with the People Manager Liaising with the People Services Assistant to respond to any queries received in the shared mailboxes within the People Services team in a timely manner, and in line with process Carry out necessary administrative duties such as note taking and any follow up, letters to employees regarding hearing/meeting outcomes etc Responsible for the monthly payroll within strict deadlines, liaising with People Services Assistant and additional People Services Officer at all times Coaching employees and managers with regards to wellbeing and mental health awareness. Liaising with EAP and Occupational Health when necessary Raising all People Services department purchase orders Ensuring People Services Manager is aware of potential legal risks arising Liaising with all internal stakeholders as well as numerous external stakeholders

About You

Your Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum two years’ experience within an HR advisory or Business Partnering role Experience of serious misconduct and gross misconduct hearings Experience of grievance investigations and hearings Experience working in a fast paced environment where planning, organising, prioritising and multi-tasking were required Experience and knowledge of working with workplace unions A solid medium to high level knowledge of current Employment Law and best practice Ability to provide measurable, timely and effective results Ability to question, listen, mentor and learn Experience of HR databases Customer focussed Proactive approach Thorough and accurate Positive Solution Orientated Team player, with the ability to work independently also Competent in key MS Office applications of Word, Excel and use of MS Teams and O365 suite of products High communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work collaboratively Car owner and driver as travelling between sites is essential

Desirable:

  • Worked within the Housing sector, or have Housing sector knowledge Worked within a Trades industry Experience working with workplace and external unions Delivered HR policy training / coaching to a varied audience

Your Qualifications

Essential:

  • CIPD qualified, or similar GCSE grade C and above (or equivalent) in English and Maths Intermediate qualification in HR or Employment Law
