We’re currently looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join us.

The City of People Supporters

In this role you’ll provide a consistent approach to the full range of people issues and initiatives, providing strategic advice, guidance and support for both the team and key stakeholders while demonstrating a thorough understanding of the breadth of specific service and departmental requirements. Among your other tasks, we’ll expect you to:

  • Provide advice on complex HR issues, proposing pragmatic and creative solutions to meet departmental and corporate business objectives, and assessing the corporate, strategic and political implications Coach senior managers to utilise a range of bespoke options, and work collaboratively to assist in the achievement of strategic and corporate people initiatives Work with senior colleagues to manage and develop all members of the team Work collaboratively to mitigate the business risk of people management issues Identify the strategic organisational needs in the pro-active management and resolution of the full range of people issues Promote collaborative working and promote key messages throughout the organisation Provide expert advice to key stakeholders with regard to strategic and corporate people-related initiatives, proposing approaches which enable the achievement of strategic and corporate objectives and outcomes Provide detailed written and verbal advice on complex people issues and those of particular corporate importance or political sensitivity, and liaise with senior officers and Members to ensure these meet corporate and organisational requirements Work collaboratively to keep abreast of developments in high level recruitment

The City of Leaders

A chartered member of the CIPD, ideally qualified to Level 5 and working towards or having achieved Level 7 or its equivalent, you’ll have in-depth relevant knowledge and a strong background in the management of diverse teams. We’ll look for leadership experience within an HR business partnering environment, and experience in a senior HR role in a complex and diverse organisation.

Skilled in the coaching of senior leaders, you’ll have the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders, and a strong understanding of employment and contract law. A superb oral communicator and capable of speaking authoritatively with all levels of staff and other stakeholders, you’ll also possess the skill to write complex letters, reports and other documentation on matters involving people management.

Excellent problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to identify creative solutions to complex matters. You’ll also have experience of influencing managers and stakeholders at all levels of the business in relation to people management, and the skills to negotiate positive people outcomes.
