A senior level Head of HR role for the next 12-18 months, working closely with a HRD to design and deliver people strategy, managing a remote team of HR Business Partners.

A leading Yorkshire based engineering and construction business.

Description

The interim Head of HR will lead a team of HR Business Partners to deliver a full service to the business, including employee relations and project implementation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with the HRD and HR leadership team to design and deliver a people strategy
  • Manage a team of remote HR Business Partners to deliver a full and effective service to the business, driving a true partnering function
  • Develop and mentor team members to promote a positive culture with extensive thought given to succession planning and driving performance
  • Coach the HR team to provide commercial HR advice across a broad range of employee relations issues, taking ownership of more complex cases.
  • Ensuring company policy and practice is up to date and fit for purpose
  • Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders and upskilling them in HR matters
  • Work closely with the HRD to ensure a positive culture and behaviours are embedded and practiced within the business and leadership team
  • Ensuring MI is accurate and work with the leadership team proactively
  • Drive the design and implementation of a variety of HR projects
  • Work with the business to drive employee engagement
  • Other ad hoc duties

Profile

The interim Head of HR will be/have:

  • CIPD qualified to at least level 5 or equivalent
  • Strong experience of managing employee relations at a senior level in a similar environment such as engineering, construction, manufacturing etc
  • Exceptional employment law knowledge
  • Extensive proven experience of managing HR teams and their ongoing development
  • Solid experience of operating at a senior level and working as part of a senior leadership team in a mid-large business
  • Flexible approach to work and with team, able to travel within the role (not extensively but as required)
  • Able to start on short notice, ideally by the end of September at the latest, and commit to the full 12-18 month contract
