Ashley Kate are pleased to be working with a unique charity in Leeds on an interim Director of People & Engagement position for a 12 month FTC .  Reporting directly to the CEO you will lead the HR function, taking responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the HR team ensuring that it provides an efficient and effective service.
 
You will be the strategic lead on the development, implementation and measurement of an effective employee engagement strategy that supports the wider strategy and builds levels of engagement throughout the staff team.
You will also support the safeguarding team to build and encourage a culture where safeguarding is positively integrated and ensure there is a team culture that develops and grows the performance and efficiency of the team.
It will be your role to manage the administration function, ensuring they provide an efficient welcome service and manage data effectively.
You will Ensure the HR function provides an efficient recruitment and on boarding process, ensuring Safer Recruitment Guidelines are followed and all new starters are adequately inducted.
 
One of the key parts of the role will be to ensure there is a culture of high performance throughout the staff team, leading the implementation of the appraisal system to help ensure that employee performance is fairly and accurately measured and also to ensure that managers are equipped with the appropriate knowledge to undertake appraisals.
 
Director of People - About you
You will ideally be MCIPD qualified or equivalent
A proven background in a strategic HR role leading teams is essential.
You will need to have experience in terms of delivering strategic development initiatives
Strong communication skills are essential and the ability to build relationships
You will need to be sensitive to the different cultures, traditions and activities within the charity
It is essential you can start by November and you are comfortable in a FTC
 
This role will pay up to £59k and has some great benefits including 8% pension and 30 days annual leave + Bank holidays
