HR Advisor | Permanent | Manchester (Swinton) | £27,000 - £28,500 (FTE circa 32k) | 36 hours, Term Time Only


An opportunity for a proactive, self-sufficient HR Advisor to join a welcoming HR team on a permanent basis, within an exciting organisation, within the education sector. Excellent growth and opportunity available.
(Requirement to work term time plus 8 days only).

Your New Role

Within your new role, you will provide operational HR support for around 170 staff, being the first point of contact for staff and management on all HR matters, also providing support to the HR Manager and wider HR team as required.

Reporting into the HR Manager, you will support with the operational day to day elements of the HR function, with ownership of your own site.

Some of your key accountabilities include;

  • Employee Relations Casework
  • HR Policy
  • Recruitment
  • Other HR Activity (liaising with payroll, staff wellbeing, attending SLT meetings, adhoc project work)
  • Focus on Wellbeing

As HR Advisor, it is essential you have a good level of Employee Relations casework experience including, grievance, disciplinary, absence, capability/performance, (with support of the HR Manager on the more complex matters), which may include organising hearings and case papers, note taking, drafting and issuing letters and occasionally conducting investigations or advising investigating officers /managers. You will also support with absence, attendance, maternity/paternity processes and risk assessments.

Another key element of your new role, alongside supporting with recruitment needs seasonally, is coaching and guiding management. It is key that you are confident, knowledgeable and comfortable with pushing back when necessary.

What You Will Need

  • Experience of working in a dedicated HR role, (within an education setting is desirable)
  • Able to evidence experience of working at the relevant level, including responsibility for organising recruitment, advising on HR policy, and relevant employee relations case work
  • Understanding of relevant policy, procedure, employment law and good practice
  • Confident, resilient, self-managing approach to work, able to use initiative, independently plan and prioritise work to deliver on time and to a high standard in a fast-paced environment
  • A "people person"; able to build strong working relationships with, and influence others
  • A good team player that takes a solution-based approach to problems;
  • CIPD Qualified or Equivalent
