My client is looking for a HR Officer to join their team on a 10 month FTC. They're looking for someone with strong generalist experience, a flexible approach to HR and must be solutions driven. They are a highly regarded organisation based in Covent Garden offering flexible hybrid working.

Reporting to the Director, People and Inclusion, this diverse generalist position will manage some of the day-to-day P&I (HR) operations of the business, including leading on payroll, benefits, employee relations and other processes and procedures in parallel with your P&I Officer colleague.

You will also play a key role in leading projects that will attract and retain talent, enhance staff wellbeing, increase diversity and act as a business partner to the trust by providing high quality and efficient advice and support. You'll work with the Director, People & Inclusion to provide constructive solutions and advice that inspires and drives the ambitions of the trust.

Key responsibilities:

Payroll, Reward and Benefits

  • Payroll and pension processing
  • Accountable for delivery of all trust benefit schemes
  • Management of the annual pay review process and responsibility for salary benchmarking

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance and advice to managers to support and improve people experience
  • Manage onboarding of new staff ensuring a robust and meaningful induction process is in place
  • Manage the offboarding process including exit interviews, analysing feedback and discussing necessary action with the Director, People & Inclusion
  • Lead on the implementation of Performance Management initiatives including system support, design, content analysis and follow up
  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing employee performance, to inform people development and succession
  • Assist in design and implementation of meaningful employee engagement surveys, analysing feedback to make recommendations and follow up with actions to improve the employee experience
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to staff on all HR matters
  • Provide specialist, robust and timely support on all employee relations matters

Backup responsibilities (primary responsibilities of other P&I Officer)


  • Manage and plan the recruitment and selection process, assisting and advising line managers in compiling job descriptions and interview questions
  • Assist with shortlisting and attend recruitment interviews as a panel member as required, contributing towards the selection of successful candidates
  • Regularly review recruitment practices and process to ensure best practice is maintained

  • Provide Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) experience and best practise insights
  • Support the implementation of EDI policies and procedures
  • Champion our EDI work and progress, translating action into results
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our EDI initiatives

Safeguarding and Wellbeing

  • Work alongside P&I colleagues to support initiatives and a mental health plan for the trust
  • Train and participate as a Mental Health Champion, providing support for employees as required
  • Train as a Designated Safeguarding Officer, acting as Deputy Lead Designated Safeguarding Officer for the trust and P&I lead on safeguarding


  • Generate reports as required
  • Any other reasonable duties in line with the role
  • P&I Projects
